When asked about long-term preparation for the Vietnamese team, Mr. Kim Sang Sik frankly replied: "I have talked about the generational transfer with Vietnamese football. But the coach 's term is short-term, their job is to achieve short-term goals." In April this year, Coach Kim Sang Sik was appointed by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) as the head coach of the Vietnamese team to replace Mr. Philippe Troussier . Despite his reputation and young age (47 years old), Mr. Kim Sang Sik's contract only lasts 2 years, half that of Mr. Troussier before. Therefore, Mr. Kim said that his main goal is to bring titles to Vietnamese football. "Old, experienced players will be better for Vietnam at the present time. To aim for the long-term future, coaches should of course prioritize old players, most will choose experienced players. This proves that performance and results are always paramount. A 5-10 year project will be different from the plan of a coach with only a 1-2 year term. Of course, a good coach is someone who can achieve success in the right circumstances," added Mr. Kim Sang Sik. However, the former Korean player did not deny the possibility of a long-term commitment to Vietnamese football. He said: "If I have the opportunity, I definitely want to try my hand at the 2030 World Cup qualifiers. Now Asia has 8.5 tickets to the World Cup, and the gap between football backgrounds is narrowing. I really want to have a long-term plan with Vietnam, and face the risks."

Also in this interview, Coach Kim also shared a lot about the relationship between him and Coach Park Hang Seo. "Of course, I often meet him to ask for advice, because he also lives in Hanoi. He gives me all the advice, all the information without holding anything back. I feel his true love for Vietnamese football", Coach Kim Sang Sik shared. "He also often buys me food. And not only that, he explains everything about Vietnamese culture to me. He has very good insights about this place", said Mr. Kim Sang Sik.
