After losing 0-3 to Viettel, coach Nguyen Huy Hoang admitted that SLNA's performance this season disappointed many fans.
About 1,000 SLNA fans were present in the B stands of Hang Day Stadium on the evening of June 1 to cheer on the home team when they played away against Viettel. However, witnessing the disjointed play of the Nghe An team, they hardly cheered in the second half. Their dissatisfaction reached its peak when a few people lit flares in the 53rd minute, just seconds later Nham Manh Dung scored to raise the score to 2-0 for Viettel. By the 56th minute, the match was considered settled when Dang Van Hao sealed the result at 3-0 for the home team.
This defeat was the second consecutive loss, causing SLNA to drop to 11th place with nine points, four points away from the top 8 while there are three rounds left in the first stage.
"Honestly, the team's performance made the home fans very sad," coach Huy Hoang said at the post-match press conference. "We promise to be determined in the upcoming matches."

Against Viettel, SLNA's defense made many mistakes leading to three goals. Coach Huy Hoang said he had a headache when the defense made many mistakes, both individual and systematic. "My pressure now is to fix things to improve the defense," said the 41-year-old coach.
Many young players were trusted with opportunities but did not play up to the requirements. After conceding the third goal in the 56th minute, coach Huy Hoang replaced key players Pham Xuan Manh and Michael Olaha, accepting defeat.

Both players have received two yellow cards, if they receive more they will be suspended, so coach Huy Hoang wants to preserve the number of players. "I withdrew them to prepare for the important match against Ho Chi Minh City Club in round 11 at home," said SLNA head coach.
The match between SLNA and Ho Chi Minh City FC will take place on June 6 at Vinh Stadium. Ho Chi Minh City FC is ranked 12th, just behind SLNA with two points less. SLNA aims to win to relieve pressure and create a gap with the bottom three teams.
