"I have followed Vietnamese football for quite a long time. I used to work for the North Korean team and came to Vietnam to play a friendly match. When working in Korea, I led Cong Phuong at Incheon United and also followed the training sessions of the Vietnamese team. I was impressed with Quang Hai, or my former student Cong Phuong. The Vietnamese team is strong, with other good players," coach Jorn Andersen of the Hong Kong team (China) said at a press conference before the match.
Coach Jorn Andersen is no stranger to Vietnamese football. He once led the North Korean team to Vietnam for a friendly match in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the German coach is also Cong Phuong's former teacher at Incheon United Club.
"We know how the Vietnamese team plays and how successful they are under coach Park Hang Seo, but they are in the transition period of their head coach. I know the current head coach of the Vietnamese team has a lot of experience in Asia and Africa, but I don't know what style of play he will choose. Therefore, we will focus on our own way of playing," coach Jorn Andersen said about the preparation of the Hong Kong (China) team for the match against the Vietnamese team.
Coach Jorn Andersen highly appreciates the strength of the Vietnamese team.
The German-Norwegian coach has respect for the home team. He sees this match as a chance for his players to gain experience.
"The Vietnamese team is a strong team. On the FIFA rankings, their position is much higher than the Hong Kong team. We look forward to this match to get used to playing against strong opponents, thereby aiming for the Asian Cup in early 2024," said coach Jorn Andersen.
The match between Vietnam and Hong Kong (China) will take place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (June 15).
