Hai Phong are currently sixth with 19 points, five points behind leaders Cong An Ha Noi, with seven matches remaining in the second round. In theory, the opportunity to compete for the championship is still open to them. However, after losing to Viettel in the first round of the second round at Hang Day Stadium, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem affirmed: "Hai Phong has no chance of winning the championship. Our goal is to play hard and contribute in every match."
In this match, Nguyen Duc Chien and Nham Manh Dung scored in each half, reflecting Viettel's dominant performance. This result helped them extend their unbeaten streak to six, including five wins.
Mr. Nghiem admitted that Viettel deserved to win, while Hai Phong missed the chance to change the game due to wasting chances in the first half. The 51-year-old coach also said that Viettel is very dangerous when it has full force and is capable of competing for the championship with Hanoi FC and Hanoi Police.
With the same 24 points as CAHN, Viettel is only behind due to a lower goal difference and has played one more match. However, coach Thach Bao Khanh said his team is only focused on completing the goal of finishing in the top 3 at the end of the season. "We are attacking diversely in both the middle and the two wings," he added. "The team also has a fairly good trio of midfielders in the tournament: Duc Chien, Jaha and Hoang Duc."
