Hanoi coach Nguyen Duc Thang praised Viettel for playing well but was not satisfied when the organizers let goalkeeper Pham Van Phong wear the same color as Binh Dinh.

Pham Van Phong wore a navy blue shirt, similar to Binh Dinh's, but was not forced to replace him. "I am not satisfied with this," said coach Duc Thang. "Such organization is not good."

In round 6, Binh Dinh played away against Ho Chi Minh City at Thong Nhat Stadium and were also asked to change their jerseys, although coach Duc Thang insisted that the two colors were contrasting. Further in round 3, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung had to go into the locker room to change his shirt in the match where Hanoi Police lost 1-2 to Viettel, causing the match to start nearly 10 minutes late.

In addition to this, coach Duc Thang assessed that Binh Dinh players were frustrated with Viettel's behavioral errors and tricks. "Viettel players played tough in this match," he said.

Midfielder Nguyen Duc Chien had at least two fierce tackles on Do Van Thuan but was not booked. Previously, this midfielder received a yellow card in the 51st minute and was suspended for two matches after a malicious foul on HAGL's Le Van Son in round 5.

Referee Tran Dinh Thinh gave Viettel a total of three yellow cards, including Bui Tien Dung in the 14th minute, Nham Manh Dung in the 38th minute and Nguyen Duc Chien in the 51st minute. Binh Dinh received a yellow card for Ha Duc Chinh in the 84th minute for taking off his shirt to celebrate.

Viettel won 2-1 in the 8th round thanks to a goal by Hoang Duc in the 60th minute and an own goal by Pham Van Thanh in the second minute of injury time in the second half. Viettel ended a four-match winless streak to climb to sixth place with 11 points.

Coach Duc Thang admitted that Viettel played well with their young players, while Binh Dinh were not at their best due to older players, a long break and the hot weather in Hanoi, which is different from Quy Nhon. "We had chances but could not score in the 88th minute," he said. "Right after that, the opponent finished us off."
