The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the Project "Developing the Ho Chi Minh City health system to become an ASEAN regional health care center from now until 2030 and the following years".

The specific contents of the Project include: planning and investing in developing health sector infrastructure in accordance with the general planning of the city; developing a high-quality health human resource training system; forming and developing a specialized medical and pharmaceutical industrial park; developing modern and specialized techniques to meet the health care needs of the people.

Along with that is building a network of specialized care from end-level hospitals to grassroots health care on a regional scale; developing medical tourism associated with the development of specialized medicine and traditional medicine; building an ecosystem of innovation, research and development in the medical field...

Regarding specific targets, the Project clearly states that from now until 2030, the average life expectancy of the people will reach 77 years, of which the healthy life expectancy will reach at least 68 years. The total fertility rate will reach 1.6 children per woman of childbearing age.

Each person is examined and screened once a year and has an electronic health record. The ratio of doctors is 23/10,000 people, 40 nurses/10,000 people, 42 hospital beds/10,000 people.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the implementation of the Project will help realize the goal of becoming an "ASEAN Regional Healthcare Center".

This will bring great socio-economic efficiency, contributing to improving people's health, stature, longevity and quality of life.

At the same time, the establishment of specialized medical centers will contribute to the development of medical tourism. Ho Chi Minh City is not only a destination for medical examination and treatment for domestic people, but also for countries in the region.

In addition, the establishment of the ASEAN Regional Healthcare Center helps support and improve the medical capacity of localities in the Southern region, aiming to reduce the burden on end-line hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and improve the quality of healthcare for people.
