This morning, at the Southern National Funeral Home (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City), the Party Committee and the Military Region 7 Command solemnly held a memorial service for 12 soldiers of Battalion 17, Division 5, Military Region 7 who heroically sacrificed their lives on December 2 while participating in a drill.
Before the funeral, the funeral organizing committee conducted a ceremony to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal from the President; the Prime Minister's Certificate of National Merit and the Central Youth Union's Brave Youth Badge to 12 martyrs who had outstanding and outstanding achievements in defensive combat exercises.
Representatives of the martyrs' families received the Fatherland Protection Medal, the Certificate of National Merit, and the Brave Youth Badge.
12 soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives at 8:27 p.m. on December 2 while participating in a drill at the National Shooting Range, Region 3 (Xuan Tam Commune, Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai).
The funeral committee is headed by Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, and Commander of Military Region 7.
The funeral organizing committee consists of 19 members, headed by Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc - Standing member of the Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region.
The memorial service for the 12 martyrs will take place from 7:15 a.m. today. The memorial service and funeral for the 12 martyrs will take place at noon the same day.
After that, the martyrs were buried at martyr cemeteries in the provinces of Binh Thuan, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and local cemeteries.
