(Dan Tri) - Placing his hand on the Constitution, the new National Assembly Chairman swore "Absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution; striving to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people".

On May 20, the National Assembly began the process of electing the Chairman of the National Assembly. The person recommended by the Central Committee for this position is Mr. Tran Thanh Man.

With 100% of the National Assembly delegates present voting in favor of the Resolution on the election of the National Assembly Chairman, Mr. Tran Thanh Man became Chairman of the 15th National Assembly, term 2021-2026.

Mr. Tran Thanh Man is the successor of Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue - who just stepped down as Chairman of the National Assembly on May 2 - at the 7th extraordinary session of the National Assembly.

Mr. Tran Thanh Man was born in 1962, from Hau Giang, has a PhD in Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Politics. He is an alternate member of the 10th Party Central Committee; member of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Party Central Committee; Secretary of the 12th Party Central Committee; member of the 13th Politburo and a National Assembly delegate of the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.

Before becoming Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was the Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and was briefly assigned to direct the activities of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Placing his hand on the Constitution, the new National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man swore: "Under the sacred red flag with yellow star, before the National Assembly, before the voters of the whole country, I, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to strive to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people."

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Party and State leaders presented flowers to congratulate the new National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

In his inaugural speech after being elected as Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr. Tran Thanh Man shared that this is a great honor and at the same time a great responsibility for him before the Party, the State and the people. The new Chairman of the National Assembly pledges to devote all his efforts to serving the Fatherland and the people; continue to innovate, improve the quality and efficiency of activities in both legislative work, supreme supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country.
