Visiting Mr. Viet's family's coconut garden in recent days, we were really satisfied with more than 500 green coconut trees planted for about 3 years, which are bearing fruit, on average each coconut tree has 50 - 60 fruits. According to Mr. Viet, growing dwarf coconut trees is quite easy, the appropriate distance between trees is from 5 - 5.7 m. However, the thing he worried about most before starting to plant coconut trees on this arid land was that there would not be enough water to irrigate the trees. Therefore, to ensure enough water for the trees to grow and develop well, on his family's 1.7-acre plot of land, Mr. Viet invested in drilling 5 water wells and investing in an automatic watering system for his family's coconut garden. Every day at 7:00 a.m., Mr. Viet turns on the automatic watering system to water the coconut trees.

In addition, for dwarf coconut trees to grow well, in addition to the leading factor of reasonable watering, fertilization is also an equally important factor, requiring a balanced combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers when fertilizing the tree.
Mr. Viet's family's coconut garden is bearing fruit.
Dwarf coconut trees are different from other coconut trees in that they bear fruit when they are about 1 meter tall. The advantage of this coconut variety is that it bears a lot of fruit, some trees bear over 100 fruits, and the coconut water is very sweet, so it is popular with many people. When harvesting dwarf coconut trees, there is no need to climb, and the time from planting to harvesting is also shorter than other tall coconut trees because it only takes about 2 years to bear fruit. With more than 500 coconut trees and more than 2 months of harvesting about 3,000 - 4,000 fruits, with a selling price of 8,000 - 10,000 VND/fruit. On average, each harvest like this, Mr. Viet's family will earn a profit of 20 - 30 million VND.
Mr. Viet is taking care of his family's dwarf coconut garden to serve the market demand for the 2024 Tet holiday.
Visiting the coconut garden with us, Mr. Viet excitedly said: "With more than 500 coconut trees that will be harvested right on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, it promises to bring the family a more prosperous and warm Tet."
In addition to growing dwarf coconuts, Mr. Viet also cultivates this coconut variety to sell seedlings to those in need. According to Mr. Viet, the way to cultivate dwarf coconuts is quite simple. When the coconut is dry, before cultivating, use a sharp knife to cut the top of the coconut close to the hard part and then place it in a shady place so that the coconut can grow plump. Then, put the coconut seedling in a bag, add a little coconut fiber and tie it tightly with plastic rope. When the coconut is still small, water it twice a day to keep the coconut seedling moist enough. If you follow these steps correctly, the coconut seedling will grow quickly, have large leaves, be healthy and the buyer will love it.
In the coming time, the dwarf coconut growing model of Mr. Ho Van Quoc Viet's family in Thanh Linh village, Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi town will be expanded to farmers in the area to improve their lives and develop their family economy.
