Implementing the Project "Strengthening the organization and improving the quality of the militia and self-defense force of Thanh Hoa province in the period of 2021-2025", in recent years, the militia and self-defense force has always promoted its core role, taking the lead in disease prevention and control, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, search and rescue; doing well in mass mobilization work, "gratitude" activities, building new rural areas, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty.
The Thanh Hoa City Standing Militia Platoon was established with 28 comrades, selected from the militia forces of communes and wards in the area, organized into 3 squads. This is a force on permanent duty, ready to fight in key areas of national defense and security. After more than 2 years of establishment, the Platoon has been operating in a disciplined and effective manner, especially in coordination with forces to ensure political security, social order and safety; ensuring strict compliance with the contents stipulated in the Law on Militia and Self-Defense Forces and detailed instructions and measures to implement the law. Regularly grasp the situation of the area, promptly report situations arising from the base.
The Vinh Loc town mobile militia platoon was chosen as a model for the province's militia and self-defense force. To improve combat readiness and strengthen coordination with forces to maintain political security and social order and safety in the area, the platoon always strictly maintains combat readiness during holidays, Tet, and important political events of the locality and the country; conducts weekly exchanges to grasp the situation and monthly or when there is urgent work, organizes meetings between the police force and the town's military command to proactively grasp the political security situation, social order and safety, promptly and effectively handle situations without being surprised. With timely and appropriate measures in the work of building forces, training and operating the militia and self-defense force of Vinh Loc town in recent years, it has contributed to firmly consolidating the national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, maintaining stability in all aspects, creating favorable conditions for local socio-economic development.
The Quang Nham Commune Marine Militia Platoon, Quang Xuong District currently has 31 members, organized into 3 squads, organized on 4 ships, each with a capacity of 250 CV or more. Due to the characteristics of large fishing grounds and little time for concentration, the Platoon annually develops a concentrated training plan with correct and sufficient content and time according to regulations, suitable for the fishermen's time. In particular, it focuses on fostering methods of propaganda, protecting sovereignty of seas and islands, and transmitting information according to hierarchy using Icom machines, thereby contributing to improving the ability to handle complex situations, meeting the requirements of the assigned tasks.
In addition, the Platoon also closely coordinates with border guards, fisheries surveillance units and other forces to maintain sovereignty and security of maritime borders, promptly detect and prevent activities of foreign ships and boats violating territorial waters, exclusive economic zones, and illegal fishing and exploitation activities. In addition, it actively participates in search and rescue at sea and flood and storm prevention.
As a locality with 203 km of border and 102 km of coastline, Thanh Hoa province attaches great importance to building border and coastal militia forces. In key areas, 5 border districts have 6 regular militia squads and 5 coastal districts have 6 platoons and 39 coastal militia squads. This force always plays a core role, taking the lead in economic development, disaster prevention, mitigation, new rural construction, environmental sanitation, search and rescue... coordinating with border posts to organize patrols to maintain political security, social order and safety on the border.
