Effectiveness of job creation for workers in Son Duong

Son Duong is a locality with abundant labor resources, especially in rural areas and ethnic minority areas. However, due to limited labor skills, the quality of human resources has not met the requirements of society. Son Duong identifies the role of quality human resources to meet the increasing demands of the labor market, the only solution is to focus on strengthening training and retraining, especially with the large labor force in ethnic minority areas.

On November 24, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang province coordinated with the People's Committee of Son Duong district to organize the 2024 Job Fair. Participating in the Fair were 16 booths of units, enterprises, vocational training facilities inside and outside the province with recruitment positions for unskilled workers, skilled workers, vocational training... At the Fair, more than 1,000 workers and students of Dong Tho High School were consulted, introduced to suitable jobs and vocational training such as: garment, construction, labor export, tourism , food processing, repair training...

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tan, a resident of Khang Nhat Commune (Son Duong), after participating in a local job fair, registered and was accepted to work at Phuc Sinh Leather Shoes Company Limited in the Phuc Ung Industrial Park (Son Duong). Mr. Tan said that the opening of the Phuc Ung Industrial Park has created job opportunities for many rural workers like him. Since he started working, he has had a stable income of over 6 million VND/month, and his quality of life has improved. If everyone of working age has a job and a stable income, escaping poverty is inevitable.

Reporting to the Inter-sectoral Inspection and Supervision Team of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang province, Son Duong district recently said that in implementing the National Target Program (NTP) for sustainable poverty reduction and sending workers abroad in the district, the District People's Committee promptly issued documents directing the implementation of the Program, and at the same time directed members of the Steering Committee of the district's NTP programs to actively and proactively advise the district leaders to issue Resolutions, Decisions, and Implementation Plans.

Son Duong district considers the management of sending workers to work abroad under contracts as one of the key solutions, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction in the district. In the first 6 months of 2024, the district has created conditions and supported 105 workers to work abroad under contracts in various markets. The number of workers receiving policy support is 8 people, with a total support amount of 663 million VND.

In 2023 alone, the district opened 19 vocational training classes, successfully organized 2 job fairs, creating new jobs for 5,423 people, reaching 109% of the plan.

Son Duong district strives to create jobs for over 16,700 people from poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped poverty households in the 2021-2025 period; send over 7,500 people from poor households and near-poor households to work outside the province; contribute to reducing the number of poor households with an employment shortage index to below 15% by the end of 2025.

To overcome the limitations and improve the quality of vocational training associated with creating stable jobs for rural workers, Son Duong district is continuing to focus on directing the implementation of a number of key tasks and solutions on implementing Directive No. 37-CT/TW dated July 10, 2024 of the Secretariat on innovation in vocational training for rural workers, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas, focusing on: Strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities, the synchronous and timely coordination of the entire political system in vocational training for rural workers. Party committees, party organizations, and authorities, especially the heads, must regularly lead, direct, strengthen inspection and supervision, and attach importance to the quality and effectiveness of vocational training for rural workers.

Continue to improve, innovate, and enhance the quality and effectiveness of vocational training for rural workers; update occupations, standardize training content, and assess the quality of training programs; strengthen education on professional ethics, knowledge of occupational safety and hygiene; law, business, entrepreneurship; soft skills and innovation for rural workers; and meet the trend of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
