"Contributing ideas" to create works to participate in the National Press Awards

Together with delegates from the Central Highlands region, delegates from Ha Tinh delegation received solutions to develop press works to participate in the National Press Awards, and support for high-quality press works.

Conference overview.

On the morning of October 5, in Vinh City (Nghe An), the Vietnam Journalists Association held a conference to summarize 17 years of the National Press Awards and a program to support high-quality journalism.

Attending the conference were Director of the Press and Publishing Department (Central Propaganda Department) Tong Van Thanh; Deputy Director of the Press Department (Ministry of Information and Communications) Dang Thi Phuong Thao; representatives of Nghe An province and leaders of provincial and municipal journalist associations, and leaders of press agencies in the Central Highlands - Central region.

The conference was chaired by Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi; Head of the Vietnam Journalists Association's Professional Department Do Thi Thu Hang; Comrade Tran Minh Ngoc - President of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association, Director of Nghe An Provincial Radio and Television Station.

Attending the conference on the Ha Tinh delegation were Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department - Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association Nguyen Xuan Hai; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association Vo Xuan Bau, Editor-in-Chief of Ha Tinh Newspaper Nguyen Cong Thanh and representatives of a number of press agencies residing in the area.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi affirmed the role, position and importance of the Vietnam Journalists Association in socio-economic life.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi informed that nationwide there are 25,000 members active in 63 provincial and municipal journalist associations, 20 inter-associations and 218 affiliated associations. Professional training and improving professional qualifications are important tasks that associations at all levels focus on implementing.

In order to create favorable conditions for the association in general and its members in particular, the Party and the State have recently implemented a project to support the creation of high-quality journalistic works. Thereby, creating consensus and competition among the press, creating works with depth, reflecting all aspects of social life.

For the National Press Awards, after 17 years of organization, the award has attracted more than 20,000 entries nationwide. The winning entries are those with serious and elaborate investment, many creative and vivid ways of expression, attracting readers, clearly demonstrating the capacity for digital transformation and journalistic innovation.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi hopes that delegates will actively discuss and clarify the outstanding results as well as difficulties in the process of participating in the annual National Press Awards, propose solutions to innovate and improve the quality of the awards; objectively evaluate and recommend solutions for the program to support high-quality press works.

At the conference, delegates focused on evaluating the results of the National Press Award over 17 years of implementation, current problems and shortcomings, and solutions and recommendations to improve the quality of the award.

Delegates also shared the contents of the process and regulations in evaluating high-quality press works and central, local and industry press awards; proposed solutions and experiences in organizing and implementing high-quality press works, creating sources of works to participate in press awards; provided professional training for members in participating in high-quality works...

Guest delegates participated in the discussion to share experiences and solutions to improve the quality of journalistic works, develop works to participate in journalism awards at all levels and sectors...

Closing the conference, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi thanked the delegates for their enthusiastic comments and sharing; the ideas and suggestions exchanged and discussed at the conference were very useful for journalists.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized that journalism is first and foremost a profession, demonstrating the responsibility of providing information to society; at the same time, participating in the National Press Awards is a professional playground for training, challenging, updating knowledge, and learning experiences among journalists and press agencies. Therefore, he hoped that ministries and branches would pay attention to coordination; associations, branches, inter-branches and press agencies would continue to pay attention to building and supporting high-quality press works, press works participating in the National Press Awards.

Before the conference, in the context of people in mountainous districts of Nghe An province being severely affected by the consequences of floods, the Vietnam Journalists Association launched a campaign to support people in flooded areas of Nghe An.

Continuing the specialized conference programs organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in Vinh City (Nghe An), this afternoon (October 5), there will continue to be a conference to review 1 year of the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies and guide the implementation of the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association; summarize the work of managing members who are reporters of press agencies residing in localities.

On the morning of October 6, the conference "Press and the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the context of digital transformation" will take place.

On the afternoon of October 6, a conference will take place to summarize 6 years of implementing the 2016 Press Law, along with 10 regulations on professional ethics for Vietnamese journalists and rules for using social networks for Vietnamese journalists.
