On October 26, Hezbollah forces announced that they had launched rockets at Israeli troops near the village of Aita al-Shaab, southern Lebanon - an area where frequent clashes between the two sides have occurred over the past two weeks.
On the same day, the organization also said it had attacked Israel's Tel Nof air base south of Tel Aviv using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Earlier, on October 24, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi announced the possibility of a quick end to the conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon. According to Mr. Halevi, the Israeli army had successfully destroyed the entire high-level command network of this organization.
Since early October, Israel has expanded its ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Israel has carried out numerous strikes against senior Hezbollah leaders, significantly weakening the organization's command structure.
At least 1,552 people have been killed since Israel intensified its bombing of Lebanon in September before sending ground troops across the border, according to Lebanese Health Ministry figures.
Hezbollah is an Iran-backed armed group that is confronting Israel on the Lebanese border.
