With just a 1-2 minute call, patients can avoid having to wait in long lines for 2-3 hours to see a doctor.
Committed to being examined within 15 minutes
"Patients with appointments will be examined 15 minutes after arriving at the hospital, and patients who request examination and consultation with foreign experts will be examined right at Bach Mai Hospital," Associate Professor - Dr. Vu Van Giap, Deputy Director of Bach Mai Hospital, committed.
Test results are guaranteed to be accurate, no matter what time of day you are examined.
Doctor Giap said that patients have the mentality of going early, so they often come in the early morning. Every day, the hospital receives about 6,000 - 8,000 people coming for medical examination. If they all gather in one time frame, it will cause overload and people will have to wait a long time. Meanwhile, most of the diseases are specialties that can be examined at other times of the day, not just in the morning.
According to Dr. Giap, since 2023, Bach Mai Hospital has implemented appointment scheduling, but currently not many people have this habit, while most examination cases have been planned at least 2-3 days in advance.
"In Europe or even at some large hospitals in some countries in the region, most patients come for examination by appointment, the rate of making an appointment is 90 - 95%. Only emergency cases and acute illnesses do not have an appointment. Thanks to that, patients do not have to wait long, doctors can proactively receive them, especially have more time to ask about their illness, advise patients, improve the quality of examination and treatment. Patients are also satisfied because their concerns and questions are satisfactorily answered by doctors," Dr. Giap informed.
At Bach Mai Hospital, according to a survey by Thanh Nien , there are many patients waiting to see a doctor from 4 to 5 am. The reason is that they want to be examined early so they can go home early. Bach Mai Hospital's assessment shows that currently only about 5% of people coming to this hospital make an appointment in advance, but most are satisfied with the service.
Bach Mai Hospital promises that when making an appointment, you only need to arrive 15 minutes early to be examined.
Talking to Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Tran Thanh (30 years old, living in Dong Da District, Hanoi) said that he used to be very afraid to go to public hospitals for examination because of the crowd. However, recently, because his bone and joint disease was not cured after 1 month of taking prescribed medicine at another hospital, he chose to go to Bach Mai Hospital for examination.
"I went to Bach Mai Hospital's website and learned that there was an appointment registration, so I made an appointment 3 days in advance. When I arrived at Bach Mai at 3:00 p.m., I was examined after only 5-10 minutes, after being greeted by medical staff and having my blood pressure measured," Mr. Thanh reflected.
In less than 2 hours, Mr. Thanh had all the information about examination, consultation and testing, and prescription from the doctor. Telling this story, Mr. Thanh said that for young people, it is easier to access appointment services. However, for the elderly, children and relatives can completely support them in making appointment for them, this is convenient for both the patient and the accompanying family members.
"The appointment call takes about 1 minute and costs 2,000 VND. With just that modest fee, I have saved a lot of time and been proactive in my work at the company. In my opinion, the hospital should widely apply appointment methods to make it more convenient for people in need of examination," Mr. Thanh suggested.
Taking a family member from Thanh Hoa to Bach Mai Hospital for medical examination, Ms. Mai, living in Ha Dong District (Hanoi) commented: "By making an appointment, I can really take the initiative with my time, and I don't have to wait for many hours like before Covid-19".
Sharing about this, Dr. Giap said that the Examination Department still maintains early examination tables, because many people arrive from 4 to 5 am. "However, we see that if we make an appointment, patients and their families do not have to work so hard," said Mr. Giap, adding that the hospital's Board of Directors has deployed a series of methods so that people can proactively arrange their time and make an appointment in advance through the hotline 1900888866, through the Bach Mai care app or through the hospital's website (bachmai.gov.vn).
"Patients who successfully register and make an appointment only need to arrive at the hospital 15 minutes in advance to see a doctor for examination and diagnosis," the hospital's deputy director pledged.
Accurate imaging and testing results
In response to the concerns of most patients who come for examination, who think that they need to go in the morning to fast and take samples for testing, doctors at Bach Mai Hospital explained that for groups of diseases such as bone and joint diseases, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, and even diabetes, patients can go for examination in the afternoon or evening without affecting the results. When making an appointment, the staff will give specific instructions on when to take blood samples, depending on the disease.
Deputy Director of Bach Mai Hospital Vu Van Giap said: "For common groups of diseases, if there is an indication for basic testing and imaging, after only 2 hours, the results will be available, the doctor will advise, prescribe medicine and you can go home. For groups of diseases that require testing, more special indications, after only about 4 - 5 hours, the doctor will conclude, prescribe medicine and you can leave the hospital gate."
With the desire to effectively implement the initiative of time for people in medical examination and treatment, Dr. Giap analyzed that if 8,000 patients all come to the clinic in the morning, it will be very difficult to meet the time requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to change the mindset and medical examination and treatment habits of the people.
Committing to the accuracy of test results, functional examination results (imaging, endoscopy, etc.) for groups of patients who come for examination in the afternoon or evening, Dr. Giap emphasized: "When the number of patients is distributed reasonably and proactively, doctors will have more time to contact, more time to ask about the disease, discuss thoroughly, answer questions, advise, and give the most accurate instructions to patients. And the final result is to determine the correct disease, proactively giving patients time when coming to Bach Mai Hospital".
Patients can make an appointment via the hotline: 1900888866; press 1 to make an appointment; or press 2 to receive advice and answers to questions during the medical examination and treatment process. Receive an appointment and arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time to complete procedures at the reception desk.
