After more than 1 year of being acquired by BrightCHAMPS Global for 15 million USD, Schola has just officially merged with BrightCHAMPS Vietnam.
The move underscores the importance of Vietnam as a key market for BrightCHAMPS, which is currently valued at $650 million.
Tran Le Thanh Nhu, Country Director of BrightCHAMPS in Vietnam and co-founder of Schola, said that the Schola system has 4 offline and blended learning centers in Ho Chi Minh City, with thousands of students participating in 1:1 online classes on English communication.
Under the auspices of BrightCHAMPS, BrightCHAMPS Vietnam aims to successfully operate 20 offline centers by May 2026, 10 centers in Hanoi and HCMC.
With over 23 million students from kindergarten to grade 12, Vietnam is actively pushing to bring more technology into the classroom, so BrightCHAMPS is confident in achieving this goal.
The $10 million investment will expand these centers and recruit and train local and international staff to the best global standards.
In addition, the company will invest heavily in partnering with local educational institutions and government agencies to integrate future-ready skills into existing educational frameworks.
BrightCHAMPS Vietnam will also provide scholarships to deserving students, and Schola students and parents will now have equal access to BrightCHAMPS' high-quality global team of teachers - just like the school's students in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and over 30 other countries.
In particular, BrightCHAMPS Vietnam will also promote more high-quality collaborations such as the global organization's recent partnership with Harvard Business Publishing Education to allow more students to access Harvard ManageMentor courses at no additional cost.
By participating in Schola's classes, children will be directly instructed by 100% native teachers according to a program designed according to the general standards of the US Department of Education. |
Vietnam is currently BrightCHAMPS’ second largest global market and a key element in the company’s goal of becoming the world’s largest co-curricular education organization by fiscal year 2027.
BrightCHAMPS was founded in 2020 and has raised $63 million from major investors such as GSV Ventures, BEENEXT, Premji Invest, and 021 Capital.
BrightChamps entered Vietnam in February 2023 under the name BrightChamps Next-Gen Hub through a teaching model combining online and on-site training, with the first center in Ho Chi Minh City. Before opening BrightChamps Next-Gen Hub, in February 2023, this startup acquired Vietnam-based Schola to rapidly expand the system.
Schola is an online English communication learning platform for children aged 5-12 with 100% high-quality native teachers. Operating in Vietnam since June 2018, Schola has an operating team of former managers of Facebook, Google APAC and is sponsored by leading investment funds in the region.
One of the investors in Schola is Next100 Fund, a subsidiary of Nexttech Group. With BrightChamps acquiring Schola through a cash and share swap, BrightChamps is also included in the Next100 fund's investment portfolio.
