Pham Nguyen Hoang Dung, 27 years old, said that the useful experience in university created a stepping stone for him to become a machine learning and data engineer at Ericsson Finland.
Hoang Dung is a former student of FPT University. After graduating from university, Dung went to Europe to study for a master's degree and completed the dual program in Data Science and I&E (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) of EIT Digital Master School. After graduating, the male student received a job offer from Ericsson.
Here, Dung is an AI specialist in machine learning and data for global telecommunications product systems. He regularly participates in large projects with customers around the world.
According to Hoang Dung, AI is a new field so there is a lot of competition, many opportunities but also comes with the pressure to update new knowledge. Therefore, in addition to working at the company, the 9x guy spends a lot of time studying and reading additional knowledge to support his work.

With a special interest in social development, Hoang Dung said: "My current wish is to use data science expertise to ask the right questions in life and solve those things."
In addition to developing his career, studying and working in Europe for nearly 3 years gave Hoang Dung the opportunity to explore the interesting things of the "old continent" through trips with friends. He also participated in exchanges at the Embassy and interesting activities of the Vietnamese community in Finland.
FPT University alumni affirm that, compared to other majors, the opportunities for studying and working abroad for STEM majors are quite large. The reason is that at present, most large corporations or organizations in the world lack high-quality human resources in this major. Therefore, this is a fertile land for Vietnamese intelligence to reach international standards.

Hoang Dung's advice for those who intend to develop a career in the information technology industry abroad is to focus on academic achievements and awards in professional competitions. These factors will score big points in the eyes of scholarship grantors or employers.
To determine his current career direction, Hoang Dung said he spent 9 years researching and learning about himself throughout his time studying and working.
Having studied at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School, then FPT University, majoring in Software Engineering, Hoang Dung said he took advantage of this time to increase his personal experience. He participated in up to 10 different clubs and organizations, and was an organizer of many events at FPT University. Dung even asked to defer a semester to go to China to volunteer for AIESEC, and work as a part-time programmer at FPT Software...
After an experiential student life, Dung took his first job as a programmer at Rikkeisoft with the aim of developing in the Japanese market. Not long after, he switched to data analysis, working for Nexttech Group.
After two years of working, Hoang Dung realized his desire to develop long-term with Data Science and began his journey to study for a master's degree to supplement his knowledge of this new field of study in Europe, becoming a machine learning and data engineer at Ericsson Finland branch right after graduation.

Looking back on his university years, Hoang Dung feels lucky to have been in an environment rich in experience like FPT University. The knowledge of technology, foreign language training programs right from the first year, opportunities to practice professional skills during business internships or practice soft skills during class hours as well as in a series of projects and clubs of the school are a solid foundation for him to boldly go abroad and become an IT engineer in Europe.
"Students who are passionate about technology and are looking for an environment for comprehensive development cannot miss the opportunity to study and experience at FPT University," Hoang Dung emphasized.
