Hundreds of trees were relocated to construct the largest intersection in Ho Chi Minh City.

More than 200 trees are being relocated to construct the An Phu intersection (Thu Duc City). This is one of the key projects of Ho Chi Minh City to reduce traffic congestion in the eastern gateway area.

More than 200 trees on Mai Chi Tho Street (Thu Duc City) are being relocated and cut down to make way for temporary road construction and support the construction of An Phu intersection. This is one of Ho Chi Minh City's key projects to reduce traffic congestion in the eastern gateway area.

Recently, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City (HCMC) granted a permit to cut down and move 219 trees to the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in HCMC. Of these, 161 trees were moved and 58 trees were cut down.

According to Dan Tri reporter, about 15 workers divided into 2 groups to relocate trees at An Phu intersection area.

Under the hot sun, workers are busy completing the uprooting and moving of trees.

"Working in the hot weather causes a lot of sweating and dehydration. We all have to prepare 3-4 buckets of ice water during a working session," said Mr. Vu Huu Phuoc (55 years old).

Dozens of trees were gathered and waiting to be brought to the nursery for replanting.

Previously, this unit had cut down 58 trees. It is known that these are trees with weak trunks that are difficult to recover.

The trees after being cut down will be measured and the data will be recorded.

Previously, in April 2023, the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board also relocated more than 1,300 trees on Mai Chi Tho Street to construct items of An Phu intersection including: two-way underpass connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Street (underpass side of Saigon River), extending to Mai Chi Tho intersection and Dong Van Cong Street.

An Phu Intersection (Thu Duc City) is the most important and largest traffic intersection in Ho Chi Minh City under construction, with a scale of 3 floors, total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND. This is the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

An Phu traffic intersection project (Thu Duc City) has a scale of 10-12 lanes on the road, 4 lanes on the underpass for two-way traffic, and 2 lanes on each overpass.

According to the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Management Board, the project is currently implementing 4 main packages: Ba Dat Bridge, Giong Ong To Bridge and 2 underpasses on Mai Chi Tho Street. The project is expected to be completed on April 30, 2025.
