A series of Vietnamese players took to the field

The first qualifying round of the Sharm el Sheikh 3-cushion billiards World Cup 2024 took place on December 1 with the participation of two Vietnamese players, Nguyen Hoan Tat and Nguyen Dinh Luan. Nguyen Hoan Tat is a skilled player and was expected to go far. However, Hoan Tat could not pass the first qualifying round. Meanwhile, Nguyen Dinh Luan continued with the top spot in the group.

Dinh Luan entered the second qualifying round, competing today (December 2). Thus, the second qualifying round of the 2024 Sharm el Sheikh World Cup has 4 Vietnamese players on the field, including: Dinh Luan, Le Thanh Tien, Nguyen Chi Long and Thon Viet Hoang Minh.

Le Thanh Tien will play from the second qualifying round of the 2024 Sharm el Sheikh World Cup

Accordingly, Le Thanh Tien is in group H with Patrice Pinard (France) and Ugur Oktorvaci (Türkiye). Thanh Tien will start at 7 p.m.

Group K features two Vietnamese players, Nguyen Dinh Luan and Nguyen Chi Long, alongside Marcos Morales (Spain). Dinh Luan and Chi Long will face each other at 5:30 p.m.

Thon Viet Hoang Minh is in Group N with two players from Türkiye, Birol Uymaz and Cenk Yildiz. This is a group that is predicted to be difficult for the Vietnamese players, as Birol Uymaz is a strong player who won the PBA championship in Korea. Hoang Minh will play his first match at 8:30 p.m.

Nguyen Chi Long is an expected player.

The second qualifying round of the 2024 Sharm el Sheikh World Cup has 48 players competing, divided equally into 16 groups. The players play a round robin to calculate points and rank. The top player in each group will qualify for the third qualifying round (taking place on December 3).

Up to now, at the 2024 Sharm el Sheikh World Cup, there are 10 Vietnamese billiards players competing, including: Nguyen Dinh Luan, Le Thanh Tien, Nguyen Chi Long, Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Tran Duc Minh, Chiem Hong Thai, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc and Tran Quyet Chien.
