Tigerair will initially fly three return flights between the two destinations per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, it said in a statement.
Flight IT557 to Phu Quoc will take off at 2:40 p.m. from Taoyuan International Airport and return flight IT558 to Taoyuan will depart Phu Quoc International Airport at 6:25 p.m., according to Focus Taiwan .
To celebrate the new route, the airline said special fare offers will be announced starting next Tuesday.
The airline was established in 2013 with many international flights.
Phu Quoc is famous for its beautiful beaches and resorts as well as its locally produced fish sauce, pepper plantations and pearl farms. Phu Quoc also has a policy of allowing foreign visitors to enter the country visa-free for up to 30 days.
Besides Phu Quoc, Tigerair is also operating flights from Taoyuan to Da Nang, Vietnam and Bangkok, Phuket in Thailand.
Recently, international tourists have returned to Phu Quoc in large numbers. According to a report by the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, during the recent Lunar New Year, the locality welcomed more than 335,000 tourists, including nearly 53,600 foreign tourists; Phu Quoc alone welcomed more than 191,000, an increase over the same period last year.
Phu Quoc is currently hosting many exciting activities to attract domestic and foreign tourists. For example, the Jetski water sport show was officially introduced on February 27 at Sunset Town beach area, with a full view of the Kissing Bridge symbol. The show will be performed 1-2 times, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm every day, during the beautiful sunset of Phu Quoc.
