Located at an altitude of about 1,000m above sea level, this cave is surrounded by limestone mountains typical of the Northwest region.
The cave was discovered by locals in 2008 while they were farming. Thanks to the locals’ awareness of preserving and protecting it, the beauty of the cave as well as the surrounding landscape remains intact.
Kho Chua La Cave was formed from geological formations over millions of years, creating a cave deep in the mountains with a mysterious, pristine beauty with magnificent stalactites and unique strange shapes.
Kho Chua La Cave is over 800m long, divided into 3 compartments. The widest part of the cave is nearly 18m, the average height of the dome is from 18 to 25m, most of the cave floor is soil and rock.
Due to the dissected limestone terrain and the karst process of dissolving and condensing carbonate, many yellow, gray, and moss green stalactites, stone pillars, stalagmites, and stone bells are formed.
On both sides of the cave walls are stalactites hanging down in yellow, silver, and blue-gray colors, intertwined like wind curtains, rice clusters, chandeliers of different sizes, or animal shapes, creating a magical, mysterious scene.
The cave ceiling is stalactites shaped like animals such as elephants, deer, dragons, phoenixes, turtles, birds... hiding in the vegetation created by the stalactites. With its wild beauty, the temperature in the cave is always at 20 to 210C, giving visitors a cool, exciting feeling when experiencing this mysterious natural beauty.
