This information was presented by Mr. Medvedev at the plenary session of the United Russia Party's international inter-party forum on the role of BRICS in building a new multipolar world order.
He clarified: “Other countries are looking to join BRICS. We can say that there are already several dozen countries, such as Thailand and a number of others.”
Last weekend, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the country is witnessing increasing interest from nations in the BRICS group.
Emphasizing the importance of facilitating the inclusion of more countries into BRICS, Putin argued that BRICS' potential would allow the organization to become one of the core regulatory institutions of a multipolar world order.
BRICS, established in 2009, is a cooperation mechanism for the world's largest emerging economies, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, and China. South Africa joined the group in 2010.
Russia will assume the rotating presidency of the bloc on January 1, 2024.
BRICS has expanded its membership to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
