The above information was stated by Mr. Medvedev at the plenary session of the United Russia Party's International Inter-Party Forum discussing the role of BRICS in building a new multipolar world order.

“Other countries are looking to join BRICS. We can say that there are already a few dozen countries like Thailand and some others,” he said.

Last weekend, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that his country is witnessing growing interest from countries in BRICS.

Emphasizing the creation of conditions for the admission of more countries into BRICS, Mr. Putin said that the potential of BRICS will allow this organization to become one of the core regulatory institutions of the multipolar world order.

BRICS was founded in 2009 as a cooperation mechanism for the world's largest emerging economies, including Brazil, Russia, India and China. South Africa joined the group in 2010.

Russia assumes the bloc's rotating presidency on January 1, 2024.

BRICS has expanded its membership to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
