According to Yonhap news agency, the South Korean and Australian navies are conducting joint naval exercises.
The aim is to strengthen the combat capabilities and coordination of the two countries' militaries through anti-submarine warfare, air defense, maritime interception, tactical exercises and live-fire exercises.
The joint exercise began on October 31 and will last until November 3 off the coast of Ulsan, 299km southeast of Seoul, with the participation of six South Korean naval vessels, maritime surveillance helicopters and military helicopters. Australia will deploy the Anzac-class frigate Toowoomba, an MH-60R Seahawk helicopter and maritime patrol aircraft.
