BTO-The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Ham Thuan Nam district has just counted the area of corn damaged by heavy rain causing flooding, leaf blight, and failure to grow in hamlets 1 and 2, My Thanh commune. The total estimated damage is 486 million VND.
Accordingly, from mid-August 2023 to present, heavy rains have frequently occurred in My Thanh commune, causing localized flooding. In particular, due to prolonged heavy rains, water from upstream has not drained away in time, causing flooding of crops, especially corn fields of the people. According to district statistics, up to now, about 48.6 hectares of corn have been damaged in My Thanh commune (damage from 30-70%).
Faced with the damage to agricultural production caused by heavy rain, the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam district has directed the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of the district and My Thanh commune to guide people on measures to respond, prevent and care for crops after natural disasters occur.
At the same time, check and verify the situation of damaged corn crops. On the other hand, the District People's Committee requested the People's Committee of My Thanh commune to prepare a dossier and verify the accuracy of the area and rate of damaged crops so that the locality can consider and support the people according to regulations.
