The voyage named Truong Sa: Spreading love for the sea and islands of the Fatherland

The delegations visiting Truong Sa and DK1 Platform are always activities of special significance in contributing to strongly affirming the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands.

On the afternoon of April 23, Working Group No. 4, consisting of 200 delegates, including 47 overseas Vietnamese delegates from 22 countries around the world, ended its program to visit Truong Sa Archipelago and DK1 Platform in 2023.

During the visit to Truong Sa from April 18-23, members of Working Group No. 4, led by Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy (Head of the Group) visited Sinh Ton Dong, Len Dao, Da Tay B, Truong Sa islands, and DK1/16 Phuc Tan platform.

At each island, the delegation was especially moved when visiting and encouraging the army, people and soldiers who are on duty to protect the sea and sky of the Fatherland.

Special itinerary

In recent years, the Party and State of Vietnam, the Ministry of National Defense have organized delegations to visit Truong Sa and DK1 Platform, which has always been an activity of special significance in strongly affirming the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands.

Sharing at the island locations visited by the Delegation, Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung emphasized that in the current context, the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the sea, islands, and continental shelf of the Fatherland, and to maintain a peaceful and stable environment in the region is a long-term, difficult, complicated, and sensitive struggle. This is also the strength of the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army, the entire political system, and the people's war at sea.

According to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, in order to complete the assigned tasks, in addition to the efforts, attempts, overcoming difficulties, and readiness to fight and sacrifice of the officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy, it is very necessary to have the attention, encouragement, and timely help of departments, ministries, and branches from the central to local levels, businesses, and overseas Vietnamese...

When visiting and working at the islands, the delegation organized to infiltrate and grasp the ideological situation, daily life, visit and give gifts, exchange and encourage officers, soldiers, people and forces on duty, and coordinated forces on the islands and platforms. These activities contributed to encouraging the soldiers and people on Truong Sa island district and DK1 platform to be confident and excited, overcome all difficulties and challenges to stand firm at the forefront to successfully complete the task of firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea, islands, and sacred continental shelf of the Fatherland.

Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung hopes to continue receiving attention, encouragement and support from the entire country and overseas Vietnamese so that Truong Sa will become more and more dignified and beautiful.

Overseas Vietnamese's hearts turn to the sea and islands

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu said that since 2012, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has coordinated with the Navy Command to organize 10 working delegations with a total of over 500 overseas Vietnamese to visit and encourage officers, soldiers, and people of Truong Sa island district and DK1 platform. In 2020-2021, the program was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2022, this meaningful program will be restarted to meet the sentiments and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese towards the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, in recent years, the organization of working delegations to visit Truong Sa and DK1 Platform has contributed to continuing to affirm Vietnam's sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago. Visits to Truong Sa are opportunities for overseas Vietnamese from many places around the world to meet, exchange, connect, and create connections between overseas Vietnamese and people in the country, contributing to strengthening great national unity and harmony. This is also the spirit of Resolution 36-NQ/TW, Directive 45-CT/TW and most recently Conclusion 12-KL/TW of the Politburo on the work of overseas Vietnamese in the new situation.

Through the trip, the overseas Vietnamese community better understood and deeply appreciated the great contributions of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Navy in liberating, protecting and developing the island systems to build solid security bases for the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

In particular, during their visits to Truong Sa, overseas Vietnamese from all over the world, with their hearts and feelings, have made practical contributions, helping to reduce some of the difficulties of officers and soldiers on remote islands.

Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, received support from the overseas Vietnamese community and appreciated the sentiments and practical contributions, both material and spiritual, of the participants in this program as well as overseas Vietnamese around the world for the officers, soldiers and people of Truong Sa archipelago .

At the places they visited, overseas Vietnamese listened to and learned about the work and life of officers and soldiers; visited, encouraged and presented gifts to soldiers and civilians at island locations; visited schools, houses, and pagodas on floating islands; attended the flag-raising ceremony and reviewed the troops of the Truong Sa island army and civilians; offered incense at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs and President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House; attended the Grand Requiem Mass to commemorate heroic martyrs and fishermen who died at Truong Sa Pagoda; visited fishing villages and infirmaries, etc.

After the visit to Truong Sa, many positive activities towards the homeland's sea and islands will continue to be deployed more widely in the overseas Vietnamese community.

“The trips to Truong Sa always foster patriotism and further enhance responsibility towards the nation. Our overseas Vietnamese will become ambassadors of Truong Sa, spreading love for the sea and islands of the Fatherland, turning love into concrete actions to contribute to the work of building and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the homeland,” Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung emphasized./.

According to statistics from the Navy, the working trip of Group No. 4 received a lot of support from organizations and sectors with gifts for officers and soldiers on the islands and platforms. For example, the Group of Nghe An province donated 700 million VND, the Group of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese donated nearly 500 million VND with many gifts, the Group of the Red Cross Society donated goods worth 390 million VND, the Group of the Institute of Technology Consulting and Global Training - TV.Pharm Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company donated medicines and medical supplies worth more than 180 million VND.../.
