The Hai Phong Puppetry Festival is an event that aims to contribute to preserving and promoting the unique cultural and artistic values of traditional puppetry of the Vietnamese people.
On May 5, news from the Hai Phong Puppetry Art Troupe said that the 2nd Hai Phong Puppetry Festival - 2024 will take place from May 7 - 11, 2024.
This year's festival has the participation of Vietnam's leading puppet theaters: Vietnam Puppetry Theater, Thang Long Puppetry Theater ( Hanoi ), Ninh Binh Puppetry Theater, Quang Ninh Puppetry Theater and the host team Hai Phong Puppetry Art Troupe.

In addition, some ancient puppet troupes also participated in this Festival: Nhan Hoa, Dong Minh (Vinh Bao district); Dao Thuc (Dong Anh, Hanoi); Luy Lau ( Bac Ninh )... with many genres of water puppets, string puppets, stick puppets, mask puppets, disguise puppets, foot puppets, belly puppets...
The festival will take place at two locations: the City Theater Square and Hang Kenh Communal House. The parade and opening ceremony of the festival will take place from 6:00 p.m. on May 7, 2024 at the City Theater Square. The parade of the groups will take place from the City Theater Square through several streets and gather at the City Exhibition Hall to participate in the opening ceremony.
During the Festival, puppet shows will be performed at the City Theater Square, with the Vietnam Puppetry Theater performing at 8:00 p.m. on May 8.

At Hang Kenh communal house, water puppetry shows will take place: Hai Phong Puppetry Art Troupe will perform the program "Hai Phong - Heritage Colors" at 9:00 and 15:30 on May 9; Song Que Nam Chan Water Puppetry Troupe (Nam Dinh) will perform the play "Village Stories" at 9:00 and 15:30 on May 10; Thanh Hai Puppetry Troupe (Hai Duong) will perform special traditional puppetry shows at 9:00 and 15:30 on May 11.
