Hai Phong spends 1.32 billion VND to reward excellent students

Hai Phong City People's Committee has just organized a ceremony to honor outstanding students of the city in 2023 at the special national relic site of the Temple of Cultural Celebrity Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem (Ly Hoc commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong).

In 2023, Hai Phong City commended and honored 132 outstanding students. Of these, 63 students won international and national prizes in cultural subjects (exams organized and selected by the Ministry of Education and Training); won first, second and third prizes in cultural subject competitions, national science and technology competitions in the 2022-2023 school year; won third prizes or higher in competitions: the final round of the Road to Olympia in 2023 and the UPU international letter writing competition in 2023.

Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Tuong Lam commended outstanding students.

In addition, there are 23 Hai Phong students participating in the 2023 high school graduation exam with high scores and passing the entrance exams to universities, colleges, and academies at home or abroad; 46 students graduating with honors or higher from universities in the city and students from Hai Phong graduating with honors or higher from universities, colleges, and academies nationwide.

Recognizing the proud achievements of outstanding students, at the commendation ceremony, the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit and allocate 1.32 billion VND from the budget to reward 132 outstanding students of the city in 2023.

With the theme “Hai Phong students - pioneers, integration, development”, this is the 19th year the city has organized the commendation ceremony with the aim of motivating and encouraging students to continue to compete in studying and training better, contributing to promoting the work of encouraging learning and talent in the whole city, demonstrating the attention of city leaders, departments, branches, organizations, and localities to the work of educating and training talents for the city and the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Anh Quan - Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee stated that in the 2022-2023 school year, despite many difficulties and challenges, the Education and Training sector of Hai Phong City still maintained its top position among provinces and cities in training and fostering national excellent students with 76 students winning prizes, ranking 4th nationwide; 2 first prizes in national science and technology competitions.

Notably, in the International Mathematical and Physics Olympiad, Hai Phong had 1 student win a Gold Medal and 2 students win Silver Medals. Along with the quality of key education, the quality of mass education continues to be improved.

In the 2023 high school graduation exam, Hai Phong ranked 6th in the country in terms of average test scores, reaching 6.85 points, with 1 student achieving national valedictorian status in block D01. The high school graduation rate reached 99.38%, the university entrance rate reached 62%.

"These are very proud achievements, affirming the tradition of studiousness and good study of Hai Phong people, and at the same time showing that the work of nurturing excellent students is being invested in properly, in the right direction, and has a wide influence on students in the city.

The results you have achieved today are just the starting point of a journey of striving to establish yourself and your career. To assert yourself, you must continue to strive, practice, study, research, and take the lead in accessing and applying the world's advanced scientific and technological achievements to become positive factors, contributing to the prosperous development of the city and the country," Mr. Le Anh Quan advised the students.
