The Civil Aviation Authority has just conducted slot monitoring (take-off and landing times) at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports, and the results show that Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air lead the rate of incorrect slot exploitation.

Specifically, last October, at Tan Son Nhat airport, Vietnam Airlines had 2,945 slots confirmed by aviation authorities. However, the airline only used 2,331 slots correctly, while 441 slots were used incorrectly and 173 slots were unused.

Similarly, at the above airport, Vietjet Air was confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority to have 2,983 slots. Of these, the airline only operated 1,946 slots correctly and had 855 flights in the wrong slots, 182 slots were unused.

The remaining airlines were also allocated 189 - 427 slots at Tan Son Nhat airport with fewer incorrect operations. For example, Bamboo Airways operated 58 incorrect slots, Vietravel Airlines 38, and Jetstar Pacific Airlines also had 8 incorrect slots.

At Noi Bai airport, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air are still the two names with the most slots, 2,529 and 2,102 respectively. Of which, Vietnam Airlines had 264 times of incorrect slot usage, 142 slots were allocated but not used; Vietjet Air had 567 times of incorrect slot usage and 128 slots were re-allocated but not used.

It is known that the wrong slot was exploited because the airline delayed the flight. The Civil Aviation Authority's slot monitoring has been thoroughly implemented since the end of 2022 when the Ministry of Transport requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to strengthen inspection, examination, supervision, coordination and slot implementation; promptly correct the situation of flight delays, cancellations, incorrect slot implementation and strictly handle violations according to authority (if any).
