TPO - This morning (December 13), at Noi Bai airport, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to welcome the delegation of students participating in the International Junior Science Olympiad back to Vietnam after 10 days of competing in the international knowledge playground.
Mr. Pham Quoc Toan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Head of the delegation, said that the exam will last for 10 days, in which candidates must take the Natural Science exam in 3 subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology. Each subject has 3 tests including: objective test; theory test; practical test.
The exam questions, developed by the IJSO World Academic Committee, are open-ended and require candidates to fully develop their individual and teamwork abilities, while the exam questions are highly practical.
During the competition, the student delegation participated in cultural exchange programs with the host country and international delegations. International friends recognized Vietnam as a country that loves peace, stability, friendliness and innovation.

In particular, the teachers and students of the delegation also paid a courtesy visit and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania. They were welcomed, encouraged and congratulated on their achievements by Mr. Do Duc Thanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam in Romania.
According to Mr. Toan, although the exam was difficult, the students tried their best and achieved impressive results with 5 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

Presenting flowers to congratulate teachers and students who achieved good results from the exam and returned to Vietnam, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that with the achievement of 6 Silver and Bronze medals, an outstanding result compared to the 2023 Exam, the students have continued to affirm their position in the international arena. The medals they achieved not only brought proud achievements but also contributed to affirming the position of Vietnamese education in the region and the world.

At the ceremony, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 students and 5 staff and teachers who participated in training and coaching students in the recent exam.

Le Tung Lam, a 10th grade student at Hanoi Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, on behalf of the students in the team, shared his emotions and happiness when returning to the warm congratulations and encouragement of the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, teachers and peers.
“Participating in the International Junior Science Olympiad has been my long-time dream and I have worked hard to become a member of the team. During the competition, my friends and I had the opportunity to interact and learn many things from international friends. I promise to continue to strive to achieve better results to improve myself,” said Tung Lam.
In 2024, the Competition will be held in Romania, with the participation of 56 countries. The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a prestigious science competition, a knowledge competition playground, held annually for students under 15 years old to encourage students to approach practical science in the world early, challenge and encourage the nurturing of scientific talents.
The competition is run by an International Committee with members from the scientific field, elected from organizations around the world.
The 5 students who won Silver Medals include: Le Tung Lam, class 10 Physics 2, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; Le Gia Hong Minh, class 10 Physics 1, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; Vuong Ha Chi and Vu Nhat Long, class 10G0, Newton Secondary and High School; Nguyen Ngoc Que Chi, class 10 Chemistry 2, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
And the student who won the Bronze Medal is Nguyen Thanh Nhan, class 10 Chemistry 1, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted.
