Hanoi launches the peak month "For the poor and social security" in 2023, so that no one is left behind

Baoquocte.vn. On the evening of October 3, in Hanoi, the Hanoi People's Committee coordinated with the City Fatherland Front Committee to launch the Peak Month "For the Poor and Social Security" in 2023.

The event responds to the emulation movement "For the poor - leaving no one behind" for the period 2021 - 2025 launched by the Prime Minister and the Peak Month "For the poor" in 2023 launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Hoang Cong Thuy and many city leaders.

Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that the launching ceremony of the Peak Month "For the Poor and Social Security in 2023" is an event of profound humanitarian significance and an opportunity for the city to honor outstanding collectives and individuals in poverty reduction and social security work, connecting compassionate hearts with poor households and people in difficult circumstances with the goal of connecting - sharing love - leaving no one behind.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh also emphasized that ensuring social security and achieving sustainable poverty reduction goals is a consistent and continuous policy of the Party and State. To implement that policy, the city has focused on building sustainable social policies; determining that social policies must be placed on par with economic policies and implemented synchronously with economic development, in accordance with the level and resource capacity of the capital in each period.

The Hanoi Party Committee has issued Program No. 08-CTr/TU on "Developing the social security system, improving social welfare and quality of life of the people of the capital in the period of 2021-2025". The People's Council and People's Committee of the city have issued many resolutions and decisions on specific policies to implement the city's sustainable poverty reduction goal in the period of 2022-2025; issued regulations on social assistance standards and social protection beneficiaries of the city...

In addition to the policies of the Central and the city, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city together with mass organizations at all levels and sectors have implemented many practical activities to care for and support poor households and families in difficult circumstances... All aim to improve the quality of life, ensure equality in development opportunities for the people of the capital, contribute to political and social stability and create momentum for economic development.

However, up to now, according to Hanoi's multidimensional poverty standards for the period 2022-2025, the whole city still has 2,134 poor households (accounting for 0.095% of the total number of households) and 22,263 near-poor households (accounting for 0.99% of the total number of households). Hanoi sets an annual target of reducing the number of poor households by 25-30% and the number of near-poor households by 10%; striving to have basically no poor households in the city by the end of 2025.

The peak month "For the poor and social security" in 2023 is an opportunity for each agency, organization, enterprise and people of the capital to continue to demonstrate the "spirit of mutual love and affection", "love others as you love yourself"; through specific practical actions, support the poor and people in difficult circumstances, join hands to achieve the goal of supporting housing for poor and near-poor households; provide livelihoods, create social security support, help the poor have a better life and the opportunity to change their lives.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee believes that the Peak Month will continue to receive practical and effective responses and support from agencies, organizations, businesses and philanthropists for the city's poverty reduction and social security work; to join hands in building a cultural - civilized - modern capital, a Hanoi of humanity, leaving no one behind.

At the program, the Organizing Committee announced that as of the evening of October 3, the total amount of money registered to support the city's "For the Poor" Fund was more than 50 billion 117 million VND, coming from 128 organizations and individuals. This will be a resource contributing to the implementation of Hanoi's poverty reduction and social security goals.

Also at the Program, the People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city commended and honored 28 collectives, units and 3 outstanding individuals who have made positive contributions to poverty reduction and social security in the capital.

At the launching ceremony, the Hanoi People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee launched a campaign to support the "For the Poor" Fund; awarded support funds to 245 poor households in the city; and commended outstanding groups and individuals who have made many contributions to poverty reduction and social security. In particular, the Hanoi City "Fund for the Poor" Campaign Committee received more than 50 billion VND in support from agencies, businesses and individuals.
