Hanoi looks to strengthen connections with Russian and Belarusian capitals

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen discussed in detail the project of the Cultural - Commercial Center "Moscow House in Hanoi", a symbol of friendship between the two capitals. The project with a total area of ​​33,035m² in Nam Tu Liem district, invested by Moscow Cultural - Commercial Center Company Limited, aims to develop a multifunctional space including offices, services, tourism and culture.

According to Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, Hanoi is ready to cooperate to speed up the project's implementation progress, and at the same time, requested Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko to support information for the Moscow city government on related procedures to soon complete the dossier for submission to the government for consideration and approval.

In addition, the two sides had extensive discussions on cooperation opportunities in many fields, from investment, trade to culture and tourism.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed that Hanoi is always ready to create the most favorable conditions for Russian investors, and at the same time, introduce the development potential of industrial and high-tech zones in the city. He also asked the Russian Embassy to support connections with the Moscow government to speed up the implementation of cooperation projects that the two cities are particularly interested in.

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko recalled important milestones in the relationship between the two countries such as the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the 80th anniversary of Russia's victory over fascism, and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He affirmed that he will continue to play a bridging role to strengthen bilateral relations in general, and relations between Hanoi and Russian localities in particular.

The two sides also discussed in detail the working trip of the Hanoi delegation to Russia in early May. This trip aims to implement the results achieved from the 25th Session of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee. In Saint Petersburg, the delegation is expected to sign a cooperation agreement with the city government and hold meetings with the business community to promote investment and trade. In Moscow, the delegation will focus on discussing cooperation in the field of smart transportation, and at the same time, organize a conference to promote investment opportunities in Hanoi.

On the same day, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen and Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou discussed many important issues to promote cooperation between the two sides, especially between Hanoi and Minsk.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen informed about the upcoming working trip of the Hanoi delegation to Belarus, including a working session with the leaders of the Minsk Administrative Committee, organizing "Hanoi Cultural Day in Minsk", promoting investment and trade with Belarusian enterprises. Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen asked the Belarusian Ambassador to support the connection for the Hanoi delegation to meet with senior leaders of Minsk, coordinate to successfully organize cultural events, and introduce potential partners in the economic field.

Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou pledged to work closely with Hanoi to ensure the success of the event, and proposed to organize a small business conference in Minsk for the two sides to seek opportunities for economic and trade cooperation. Ambassador Baravikou also proposed a number of cultural activities to enhance people-to-people exchanges similar to the “Belarusian Night in Hanoi” in 2024, especially the Minsk Motor Show in Hanoi on the occasion of the April 30th anniversary or the National Day on September 2nd. The Ambassador hoped that the event would bring together professional racers from Belarus with the participation of Vietnamese partners in the field of motor sports.

A notable content in the exchange was the proposal to place statues of Belarusian celebrities in Hanoi and statues of President Ho Chi Minh in Minsk.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen welcomed this idea, emphasizing the significance of cultural exchange activities in strengthening friendship between the two countries.
