On September 27, the People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City held a press conference to inform about the program of the Launching Ceremony of the Peak Month "For the Poor and Social Security" in 2023.

Speaking at the press conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Sy Truong said: Along with the City's support policies, the City's Fatherland Front at all levels continues to mobilize and effectively use social security funds.
From 2022 to present, the city has implemented many policies to achieve the goal of ensuring social security and sustainable poverty reduction, helping people gradually stabilize their lives with a total amount of over 315 billion VND; supporting 100% of tuition fees for preschool children and primary school students from households that have just escaped poverty.
In 2022 - 2023, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels of the city continued to receive 2,168 billion VND, goods worth 26.4 billion VND and goods, medical equipment to support the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic. The city's "Relief" Fund has allocated 3,485 billion VND to support families of victims who died from fires and drowning in the city and people of Nghe An and Yen Bai provinces who suffered damage caused by floods.
In particular, in the face of the serious damage caused by the fire in Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, the City's Fatherland Front at all levels promptly visited, encouraged and supported the families of the injured and dead victims.
The “For the Poor” Fund at all levels of the city has spent over 114 billion VND to support the construction of 979 solidarity houses; support means of production such as breeding cows, motorbikes, sewing machines, plows, sugarcane juicers, etc. to help poor households, near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances have jobs to increase income, improve their lives, and prevent poverty relapse.
In particular, with the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, Hanoi with the whole country", in 2023, the City supported the construction of 312 solidarity houses for the provinces of Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, and Hai Phong with a support level of 50 million VND/house. The "For Vietnam's seas and islands" fund received support of 51 billion VND.
According to the results of the multidimensional poverty standard review for the period 2022 - 2025, Hanoi currently has 2,134 poor households, accounting for 0.095%, 22,263 near-poor households, accounting for 0.99%, the total number of localities with no poor households is 16/30 districts. Among the poor and near-poor households, there are currently more than 2,600 households facing housing difficulties that need support for new construction and repair, along with the need for support with means, tools for work, production, and job creation to be able to rise out of poverty.
Also at the meeting, regarding the results of the work calling for support for the victims and their families in the recent fire in Khuong Ha street, Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, Mr. Nguyen Sy Truong emphasized: The city's policies have been implemented very promptly; besides announcing 3 support receiving account numbers, the City Fatherland Front, Thanh Xuan district and Khuong Dinh ward have also promptly provided initial support to the victims so that they have more resources to stabilize their lives...
With the motto that relief forms must ensure immediate and long-term relief, at the right time, at the right time, with a large amount of money received, the City Fatherland Front has instructed the Thanh Xuan District Fatherland Front to provide one-time support after initial support to ensure long-term stability for households.
The district is urgently developing plans, in which it coordinates with the government to assess the specific level of damage in each situation, following the motto that donations from groups and individuals are used for the right purposes and with long-term significance.
After that, the City Fatherland Front Committee will meet, collect more opinions from relevant parties, report to the City leaders for their opinions, and then disburse support to households, with immediate publicity about the support level and list of people receiving support.
