Kinhtedothi - Hanoi's leaders pledged to promote investment attraction from international partners, and hope that Vietnamese diplomatic representatives will continue to support promoting the city's image and potential.
On the afternoon of December 11, leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee had a working session with the Head of the Delegation of Vietnamese Representative Agencies Abroad for the 2024-2027 term.
Attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to China and the Federated States of Micronesia Pham Thanh Binh; Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu ... along with Hanoi delegates, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Consuls General of Vietnam abroad.
The numbers are looking up
At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment Le Trung Hieu briefly reported on the city's socio-economic development situation in 2024 and some development orientations in the new period.
"In 2024, the city has basically completed 23/24 socio-economic targets, with 6 targets exceeding the plan. The growth rate is expected to reach 6.52% compared to 6.27% in the same period last year. The scale of GIDP is about 58 billion USD, ensuring a balanced budget revenue and expenditure. The total budget revenue is estimated to reach 120.5% of the estimate, specifically about 500,000 billion VND", Deputy Director Le Trung Hieu said. "Hanoi's annual import-export turnover reached 19.4 billion USD, an increase of 16.7%, of which exports increased by 9.6%. The city attracted 2,067 million USD of registered FDI capital, ranking 5th in the country".

In addition, activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital were also successfully organized, leaving a good impression not only on the city's residents, but also on the people of the whole country and international friends. Hanoi continues to affirm its position as a leading tourist destination with many major awards such as "Asia's Leading Tourist Destination", "Asia's Leading Short-Term City Destination", and "Hanoi, Vietnam Cultural Destination".
According to Deputy Director Le Trung Hieu, Hanoi will continue to attract investment from key partners such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the US and the European Union, while promoting investment in high technology, biotechnology and clean energy.
The Hanoi government also identified the completion of infrastructure for important transport projects, connecting the inner city with the suburbs and neighboring areas as a key task. Along with that, the city will improve management capacity and efficiency in the processing and manufacturing industry, while promoting the application of information technology, digital transformation and handling of administrative procedures to support investors and businesses.
Ideal diplomatic destination
Also during the meeting, Director of the Hanoi Department of Foreign Affairs Ngo Minh Hoang presented a summary report on the city's foreign affairs results in 2024 and a number of proposals and orientations for expanding cooperation with countries and territories where the new ambassadors, consuls general and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will work in the coming time.
According to Director Ngo Minh Hoang, in 2024, "Hanoi organized 17 diplomatic delegations of city leaders, including 11 delegations led by city leaders and 6 delegations accompanying Party and State leaders on business trips abroad. The city also welcomed 12 high-ranking delegations on official visits to Vietnam, typically the delegations of General Secretary - President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang".
Hanoi leaders also hosted, welcomed and discussed bilateral cooperation projects with more than 65 international delegations. Foreign relations with major investment partners in Hanoi such as China, France, Japan and South Korea achieved many outstanding results. In addition, the city also expanded cooperation with new localities in the Americas, Africa and the Middle East.
In addition, Hanoi's departments, branches and localities have also actively implemented specific cooperation activities with foreign partners, contributing to promoting economic and cultural development. They have contributed to building and promoting the image of the country, people, culture and development achievements of Vietnam in general and the capital Hanoi in particular.
On that basis, Hanoi leaders hope that Vietnamese ambassadors, consuls general and representative agencies abroad will continue to pay attention, support and closely coordinate in activities such as: Promoting investment, trade, tourism and cultural exchange in priority areas; Introducing and promoting Hanoi's potential and advantages to foreign investors and businesses; Supporting and promoting cooperation between Hanoi and foreign partners in the fields of economics, trade, investment, culture and education.
The meeting provided an overview of Hanoi's socio-economic picture, and identified key orientations and tasks in the city's foreign affairs. Thereby, Hanoi hopes to receive support and close coordination from Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to promote international cooperation, attract investment and promote the image of the capital.
