According to online channel survey, the highest bank interest rate is currently 6.6%/year, applied to long-term deposits at MB and VietBank.
Eight banks are maintaining interest rates of 6% per year for term deposits of 12 months or more. Ten banks are maintaining this interest rate for term deposits of 15 months or more. Eighteen banks are maintaining this interest rate for term deposits of 18 months or more. Nineteen banks are applying this interest rate for term deposits of 24 months or more.
Meanwhile, the lowest deposit interest rate is currently only 2.8%/year after Vietcombank reduced deposit interest rates for two deposit terms of 1 month and 2 months.
Vietcombank maintains the lowest interest rates in the system for terms of 3-5 months at only 3.1%/year, 6-11 month terms at only 4.1%/year and 12-24 month terms at only 5.1%/year.
At state-owned commercial banks such as Agribank , BIDV and VietinBank, deposit interest rates are slightly higher but are also among the lowest deposit interest rates in the market.
Accordingly, the interest rate for 1-2 month term is only 3.2-3.4%/year, for 3-5 month term is only 3.5-3.85%/year, for 6-11 month term is only 4.4-4.7%/year and for 12-36 month term is only 5.3-5.5%/year.
Some commercial banks such as ABBank, SeABank, Nam A Bank, VPBank, Techcombank, ACB , TPBank, Eximbank, OCB,... are also in the group maintaining low interest rates, with deposit terms all below 6%/year.
At the Credit Conference for the Central Highlands region organized by the State Bank of Vietnam last week, the State Bank of Vietnam's Standing Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu said that commercial banks currently have excess liquidity. The State Bank of Vietnam ensures liquidity for the economy and commercial banks, while also providing support tools to facilitate access to cheap capital, thereby providing a basis for lending at the lowest possible interest rates.
However, the Deputy Governor pointed out the reality that commercial banks mobilize a lot of capital but find it difficult to lend because businesses and people do not invest in production and business.
“Banks cannot lend, leading to money “dead” in banks. Money circulation is very slow, this is one of the signs of economic stagnation,” said Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu.
According to statistics, since the beginning of October, 22 banks have reduced deposit interest rates, including: PVCombank, VIB, Sacombank, VietBank, SCB, VPBank, SHB, BIDV, VietinBank, HDBank, BaoViet Bank, Techcombank, SeABank, Viet A Bank, PG Bank, Dong A Bank, Vietcombank, LPBank, Nam A Bank, CBBank, ACB and Bac A Bank.
Of which, Vietcombank, SHB, Dong A Bank, PG Bank, Nam A Bank, HDBank, VietBank, LPBank, Viet A Bank and Bac A Bank are the banks that reduced interest rates twice this month. On the contrary, there was one bank that increased deposit interest rates, GPBank, on October 4.
