On June 13, the head of the Asia-Pacific team selection committee for the Bonallack Trophy 2023 - Mr. Bones Floro, through the Vietnam Golf Association, sent an invitation to Nguyen Anh Minh to join the Asia-Pacific team to compete with the European team at the Bonallack Trophy 2023.

This year, the Bonallack Trophy 2023 will be held from August 3-5 at La Manga Club, Spain. The Bonallack Trophy is a tournament for amateur golfers following the Team Competition model similar to the Ryder Cup tournament, an event held every 2 years between Europe and Asia/Pacific since 1998. The competition format of the Bonallack Trophy includes 10 Fourballs matches, 10 Foursomes matches and 12 Singles Matches, played over 3 days.

In 2020, the tournament was canceled due to the pandemic and the last time the tournament was held was in 2018 at Doha Golf Club, Qatar, which saw the Asia-Pacific team crowned with Min Woo Lee at the helm, ending 14 years of European dominance.

Some notable names who have participated in the Bonallack Trophy as Amateur players include Rory Mcilroy (2006), Jon Rahm (2012), Francesco Molinari (2004), Justin Rose (1998), Rasmus Højgaard (2018), Shane Lowry (2008) of the European team and Cameron Smith (2012), Hideki Matsuyama (2012), Takumi Kanaya (2016,2018), Min Woo Lee (2018), Geoff Ogilvy (1998) and Danny Lee (2008) of the Asia-Pacific team.

Being invited to the team and being one of the 12 members of the Asia-Pacific team competing in the tournament is an honor for Anh Minh in particular and for Vietnam in general. Vietnam has had its first representative competing in a very prestigious golf tournament. According to the world amateur rankings, Anh Minh is currently ranked 218th and he is also a golfer with many impressive achievements in many domestic and international golf tournaments in recent times.

This historic milestone once again affirms the right direction of the Vietnam Golf Association in promoting the development of young golf and enhancing international cooperation.
