Recently, a delegation of officials from the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command attended the inauguration ceremony and handed over the Great Solidarity House to veteran Trinh Thi Tuyen, born in 1950, residing in Kinh Duong village, Hiep Cat commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province.
In 2024, the armed forces of Hai Duong province will build eight Great Solidarity houses for families in difficult circumstances, with priority given to families with meritorious services and households in urgent need of housing.
Receiving us in a spacious house with the smell of paint and an area of about 40 square meters , with an altar, living room, bedroom with private bathroom, and kitchen, Ms. Tuyen emotionally shared: “All my life, I have always dreamed of having a solid house to protect me from the rain and sun, but due to difficult circumstances, I have not been able to do so. Thanks to the help of the soldiers, my dream has now come true. I am very grateful to the soldiers.”
Ms. Trinh Thi Tuyen is a veteran, living alone. In recent years, due to her old age, poor health, and her family being poor, Ms. Tuyen has had to live in a dilapidated house.
Sharing Ms. Tuyen's difficult situation, the Provincial Military Command coordinated to mobilize support for Ms. Tuyen's family with 50 million VND to build a new house.
Colonel Nguyen The Trung, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, said: The unit has sent officers, employees, and militia to support the family with labor when needed, thus reducing part of the cost of building the house. In addition, the unit also donated some essential household items so that Ms. Tuyen can soon stabilize her life when moving to the new house.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Dinh Toan, Head of the Mass Mobilization Department, Political Department of the Provincial Military Command, said: The Provincial Military Command coordinated with a number of businesses to mobilize support of 50 million VND for each family to build Great Unity houses. In addition, agencies and units in the provincial armed forces also donated, supported, and called for support to build nine Gratitude Houses to give to families with preferential policies with a support level of 80 million VND/house, which was supported and highly appreciated by local Party committees, authorities and people.
Activities to help people are regularly deployed by the armed forces of Hai Duong province, focusing on field trips to do mass mobilization work, training militia and self-defense forces, drills and on the occasion of holidays and Tet.
In particular, responding to the movement "Army joins hands to build new countryside", 100% of units of the provincial armed forces have signed a program to coordinate with localities to build new countryside and civilized urban areas, with specific tasks such as: Building roads, dredging intra-field canals, eliminating garbage hotspots that pollute the environment, planting flowers...
Over the past 5 years, officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces have mobilized people to donate 18,715 m2 of land; participated in more than 25,000 working days, coordinated the construction of more than 338 km of roads, dredged 238 km of irrigation canals; planted and cared for more than 30 km of flower roads, nearly 1,500 timber trees, and fruit trees of all kinds.
Along with that, the movement "The Army joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind" has been implemented by agencies and units in the provincial armed forces with many practical actions, such as: Supporting funding for house construction; supporting breeding animals, capital, and production tools for families in difficult circumstances; helping poor children overcome difficulties...
Some new programs that have been implemented for more than two years have brought about practical results such as: "Hai Duong Provincial Armed Forces help children go to school", "Godmother" has mobilized and donated 80 bicycles, 20 bookcases, 30 desks, 30 school bags, 315 gifts, totaling nearly 400 million VND; sponsored 12 students with especially difficult circumstances with a support level of 500 thousand VND/month for each child; thereby creating motivation to help families with difficult circumstances rise up in life.
Colonel Vu Kim Thang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command, affirmed: The practical actions of the officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces have significantly contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, consolidating the people's trust in the local Party Committee and government, and building an increasingly solid "people's hearts and minds position". This helps the provincial armed forces perform well a number of important tasks such as: selecting and calling citizens to join the army; building combat bases in defense areas; mobilizing and training militia and self-defense forces; contributing to the successful completion of annual local defense and military targets and tasks.
