That was shared by Mr. Nguyen Ba Diep, co-founder of MoMo at the Workshop "Promoting Public Services and Cashless Payments" in Ho Chi Minh City on October 17, 2023 within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Day 2023 program held in Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, there are about 2.5 million users paying via MoMo for more than 90% of Public Administration services on the National Public Service Portal and 1 million users for public services. There are 4,260 schools nationwide, of which most schools in Ho Chi Minh City accept tuition payments via MoMo. Similarly, 148 hospitals and clinics nationwide, of which all major hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City also implement payment via MoMo.
About 51.3% of customers aged 18-27 have chosen MoMo as a payment method on the National Public Service Portal and 45.8% of young customers in this age group also use MoMo to pay for public administrative services. Compared to 2022, payments on the National Public Service Portal using MoMo in 2023 increased by 155% for the payment of fees and charges, and by 315% for the payment of traffic fines.
Based on the data, Mr. Diep emphasized the role of young people in implementing the policy of promoting national digital transformation. According to him, young people are the core force in effectively implementing digital transformation, through changing living habits, spreading new messages from the Government, thereby leading the whole society towards new trends.
"I believe that in the process of digital transformation, especially in public services, young people are the main user group and the pillar in developing this field based on three factors. First, young people have the ability to quickly absorb technological information; second, young people often use online services; third, young people tend to share on social networking platforms and guide their relatives to use them. Therefore, if we focus on customers aged 18-27, the digital transformation process in all fields will progress faster," Mr. Nguyen Ba Diep shared.
“Currently, MoMo is the top payment channel on the National Public Service Portal, accounting for 47% of total transactions on the Portal according to data from the third quarter of 2023,” Mr. Nguyen Ba Diep added. He also said that Ho Chi Minh City is leading in promoting cashless payments for public services, with a rate of up to 45.4% on Public Administration and 39.86% on Public Services.
