Established over a decade ago, the forestry seedling nursery business in Ngoc Quan commune, Doan Hung district, has gradually become the main occupation in the locality, with more than 150 households participating. Alongside agricultural production, services, trade, and small-scale handicrafts, the forestry seedling nursery business provides a stable income for many households.
To obtain healthy seedlings, the most important thing is to choose suitable soil, usually red basalt soil. After completing all the necessary preparations, the soil is packed into seedling pots in preparation for planting.
Mr. Pham Xuan Yen, owner of a nursery in Zone 10, Ngoc Quan commune, shared: "Raising seedlings is not hard work, but it requires meticulousness and diligence. From choosing the soil, weather, watering, and observing the pest and disease situation at each stage. Seeing the seedlings grow healthy and green is the happiness of those of us in this profession."
The seedlings are protected by a canopy and closely monitored and cared for, ensuring uniform growth.
The seedlings are neatly arranged, ready to be loaded onto trucks to reforest the land. On average, some households produce 1 million seedlings per year, while others produce 200,000. From these nurseries, acacia, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and pine trees have traveled far and wide to reforest barren land, bringing prosperity to many households and opening up avenues for sustainable forest-based economic development in many localities.
