Stock transactions in 2022 decreased compared to 2021, but HOSE still reported a profit of nearly 2,000 billion VND

HOSE's revenue last year decreased mainly due to a decrease in revenue from securities trading activities while service provision activities still increased by nearly 11% compared to 2021. The average securities trading volume in 2022 decreased compared to the previous year. Specifically, the average volume reached more than 693.65 million securities/day, down 9% and the transaction value reached nearly VND 17,185 billion/day, down 22% in average value compared to 2021.

Looking back at 2022, HOSE assessed that this was a challenging year for the Vietnamese economy when it was affected by both external and internal impacts at the same time. For the Vietnamese stock market, despite many fluctuations, the market continued to maintain a certain stability, operating safely and smoothly, most listed enterprises operated stably and profitably, and the participation of domestic and foreign investors was increasing. Capital mobilization activities in the market remained high at more than VND 57,127 billion, an increase of 16.5% compared to 2021.

By the end of 2022, there were 515 securities listed and traded on HOSE with a total volume of 143.75 billion securities of all kinds. The stock market capitalization reached 4.02 million billion VND, accounting for more than 94% of the total market capitalization and equivalent to 42.22% of GDP in 2022. In particular, 2022 was recorded as a breakthrough year for foreign investment capital despite difficult factors when foreign investors still net bought more than 26,674 billion VND.
