On the evening of August 28, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the 2nd National Press Award "For the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism" was solemnly held on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Cultural Sector's Traditional Day (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh; Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Committee Pham Tat Thang; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine Le Hai Binh, along with representatives of Central and local departments, ministries, branches, and organizations; leaders of units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of central and local press agencies, and award-winning authors/author groups.

According to the Organizing Committee, since its launch, the Award has received positive responses from press agencies, reporters, journalists, and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association nationwide. Works participating in the Award are published and broadcast on various types of press: Print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, television, and press photos, from July 1, 2023 to June 15, 2024.
By the end of the submission date (June 20, 2024, according to the postmark), the Organizing Committee had received a total of 920 entries. This is a large number of entries, especially for an industry journalism award launched in a short time. This demonstrates the enthusiasm and special interest of journalists and the press public in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family.
The jury assessed that the entries for this year's Award were not only numerous and diverse in topics, but also of good professional quality, gathering many large and small press agencies at both the central and local levels. The works all adhered to major themes, vividly reflecting important events of 2023-2024 in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family.
Some prominent topics that many authors and groups of authors are interested in and exploit include the issue of developing Vietnam's cultural industry in the new situation; protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the field of culture and art; the issue of preserving and promoting Vietnam's cultural heritage in general and the culture of 54 ethnic groups in particular; building the entertainment industry, the film market, the book market and reading culture; developing tourism, sports, building families, protecting children; family topics, about the tradition of studiousness with examples of characters who are filial and devoted to their parents; guiding readers to the values of truth, goodness and beauty in life...

Print journalism is the type of journalism with the largest number of entries. Compared to the first award, the entries this time have many good articles, higher quality, and are invested in very carefully.
Articles from different perspectives have proposed solutions and directions for responsible development of each field, both encouraging and motivating, and providing appropriate interpretations to the actual situation.
The online newspaper category has the second largest number of entries after the printed newspaper. Central press agencies continue to have strengths in in-depth, multimedia series and works.
Some press units sent many works such as Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Culture Newspaper, Dan Tri Newspaper, Political Theory Magazine...
The works selected for the final round are mostly presented in multimedia formats such as Mega Story, E-magazine with images, video clips, podcasts, data graphics... presented vividly and eye-catchingly, taking advantage of the advantages of electronic newspapers. The works are comprehensive and theoretical about cultural, sports, tourism, and family issues.
For the radio and television category, the number of entries in this year’s radio and television category is higher than the first year. Notably, many entries highlight examples of dedication and wholehearted contribution to the cause of preserving national culture and arts.
The works that were well evaluated by the judges were all works that attracted the attention of the audience, creating a propaganda effect. The content was creative and new in discovering the topic. The storytelling was attractive, convincing and especially skillful in using the typical elements of television, which were images, commentary and sound.
Press photography recorded a large number of entries. The number of press photos in localities and cities this year was higher, not only in the Northern provinces but also in the Central and Southern regions. This year's photo collections raised good issues.
Based on the research of the profiles of 119 works proposed by the Preliminary Council for the Final Round, the Final Council conducted the evaluation and awarding in a spirit of urgency, impartiality, objectivity, and strict adherence to the Rules and Regulations. As a result, the Final Council selected 94 best works to award 5 First Prizes, 15 Second Prizes, 24 Third Prizes and 50 Encouragement Prizes to individuals and groups.
The Organizing Committee also awarded 3 collective prizes of equal rank to Nhan Dan Newspaper, Van Hoa Newspaper and Vietnam News Agency ; these are press agencies with many works participating in the competition, achieving high results.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Third National Press Award "For the cause of developing Culture, Sports and Tourism" in 2025, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Award Organizing Committee, emphasized that the fields of culture, sports and tourism have always received attention, investment, care from the Party and State and achieved important results.
In that transformation, there is the participation, companionship, solidarity, and tireless efforts of press agencies, especially the team of dedicated and creative journalists - the vanguard soldiers on the cultural and ideological front who have devoted more and more intelligence, capacity, and time to works on building and developing culture, sports, tourism, and family.

Towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), in order to continue to spread the achievements of the industry, recognize and honor the outstanding contributions of collectives and individuals, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and relevant agencies continues to organize the National Press Award "For the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism" for the third time in 2025.
Building on the achievements of the past two seasons, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism respectfully requests press agencies, journalists, reporters and editors to continue to pay attention to, research, discover, organize production and publish press works that deeply and comprehensively reflect the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family.
In particular, continue to promote propaganda, create a spread of the achievements that the whole industry has made in the recent past. Focus on deeply propagating the viewpoints, policies, and guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State on culture, focusing on the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the period 2025-2035.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hopes that press agencies, from a constructive and critical perspective, will analyze, explain, point out difficulties, obstacles, and shortcomings, and propose solutions to develop culture, sports and tourism as a truly endogenous strength and spiritual foundation of the country; and quantify them more specifically and comprehensively in party congress documents at all levels, especially the documents of the 14th National Party Congress.
