Gold bar and gold ring prices today (February 12): The gold bar and gold ring market continues to fluctuate strongly following the downward trend of world gold prices.

At the time of survey at 9:30 a.m. on February 12, 2025, the price of gold bars on the trading floors of some companies was listed as follows:
The price of SJC gold was listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), Phu Quy Company and DOJI Company at 86.7-90.2 million VND/tael, down 1.5 million VND for buying and 500,000 VND/tael for selling compared to the previous session.
The price of SJC Mi Hong gold bars is currently trading at 87.6-89.2 million VND/tael for buying and selling, an increase of 300,000 VND/tael for buying and a decrease of 100,000 VND/tael for selling compared to the previous trading session. The difference between buying and selling is 1.6 million VND.
On the side of Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Manh Hai Companies, both buying and selling prices were at 88-90.5 million VND, unchanged from yesterday's trading session.

Gold ring price today
Similar to gold bars, 9999 gold rings also tend to adjust, fluctuating from 1.1-2.1 million VND/tael in both directions.
For gold rings, the price of 9999 gold rings is sold by SJC at 89.6 million VND/tael, bought at 86.6 million VND/tael. DOJI brand gold rings are traded at 89.1 million VND/tael for sale and 87.6 million VND/tael for purchase. PNJ gold house lists gold rings at 89.9 million VND/tael and 87.4 million VND/tael for sale and purchase.
At Phu Quy Company, the listed price of gold rings is from 87-90 million VND/tael (buy/sell), down 700,000 VND compared to the previous closing price.
Currently, Bao Tin Minh Chau Company is announcing the price of plain round gold rings from 88.4-90.45 million VND/tael (buy/sell), down 400,000 VND per tael.
According to GoldPrice, this morning, February 12, Vietnam time, the world gold price was trading at 2,890 USD/Ounce. Converted to the USD exchange rate, at BIDV bank (25,690 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 89.6 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Compared to yesterday, the world gold price decreased by about 800,000 VND/tael.

Gold prices are still being affected by two main news: tariffs and comments from Jerome Powell, Chairman of the US Federal Reserve. US President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% tariff on imported steel and aluminum, proposed without exceptions or exemptions, has raised concerns about a potential trade conflict. The protectionist measure, aimed at supporting struggling domestic industries, has raised concerns about retaliation from trading partners and the possibility of a wider trade war.
In addition, Jerome Powell's testimony before the US Senate Banking Committee also significantly influenced market dynamics. In his opening remarks, he said the central bank remains cautious about cutting interest rates, citing strong economic conditions and inflation that has been consistently above the Fed's 2% target.
After three rate cuts by 2024, the Fed has maintained its current rate, with analysts widely expecting that stance to continue at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on March 19. Markets will now continue to monitor the meeting for insights on future monetary policy, especially ahead of tomorrow's consumer price index release. Higher-than-expected inflation readings could challenge current market expectations for two more rate cuts this year.
On the other hand, according to Tradingeconomics, gold prices fell below $2,900/ounce from a record high of $2,940, due to profit-taking by investors. However, market sentiment remained positive as concerns over trade tensions continued to rise.
Analysts said the decline was mainly due to investors selling to take profits, while some investors believe that gold prices will consolidate before the next rally. Meanwhile, the market is watching US inflation data due out today, which could affect expectations for the US Federal Reserve's interest rate policy. Although gold is often seen as an inflation hedge, if the Fed continues to maintain a cautious stance on interest rate cuts, gold's upside could be limited in the short term.
Gold demand was also supported by central bank buying, especially the People's Bank of China (PBoC), which increased its gold reserves for the third consecutive month in January.
