At online agricultural wholesale channels in Ho Chi Minh City, each kilogram of Vietnamese mangosteen is sold by wholesalers at VND40,000 for large ones and VND27,000-28,000 for small ones. This price is about VND10,000 per kilogram cheaper than Thai goods. At retail markets, the price of Lai Thieu mangosteen (Binh Duong) fluctuates at VND55,000-60,000 per kilogram, 30% lower than the beginning of the season in April and the same period last year.
The leader of Thu Duc agricultural wholesale market (Ho Chi Minh City) said that Thai goods still account for the majority of the market, with wholesale prices ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 VND per kilogram depending on the type.
