3 more agricultural products are granted "visas"
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China officially signed three important protocols, paving the way for the export of fresh coconut, frozen durian and crocodile to China. Of which, frozen durian is considered a priority product with the potential to contribute significantly to the current agricultural export turnover of our country.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province informed that in preparation for exporting frozen durian, after the protocol between Vietnam and China is signed, the province will wait for instructions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement this method appropriately.
Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Pak district hopes that after the protocol, the district has worked with central and provincial agencies to learn about the process of exporting frozen durian. The locality is waiting for instructions to have frozen durian export shipments during the upcoming Durian Festival.
A business owner operating in the field of durian distribution and export, with a warehouse in Dak Lak province - shared: "Freezing durian for export brings a huge advantage in market competition with other countries in the region. Because when freezing durian, it will be preserved longer, less space is needed in containers, increasing the quantity of transportation. However, the freezing process must be done strictly, the cost of investing in the system is quite large, so businesses that want to go far and sustainably must accept to invest capital in advance."
Many opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market
Talking to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh - Economic Expert, currently the demand for safe, organic and high-quality agricultural products in the world is increasing, creating opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products. At the same time, Vietnamese agricultural products also face many challenges due to the lack of synchronization in the production and distribution stages to the market.
For example, there are difficulties in tracing the origin when the quality control and traceability system has not been completed, making it difficult to prove the clean and safe origin of the product. The reason is that there have not been many large-scale concentrated production areas with diverse products; the consumption market is still unstable, so it has not encouraged many businesses to invest in production.
In addition, the connection between farmers, businesses and distributors is still weak. "To build and develop safe agricultural, forestry and fishery food production and supply chains, Vietnam needs to implement a number of synchronous solutions. It is necessary to increase investment in product quality control systems and traceability, ensuring that consumers can easily check the origin and quality of products. Apply international standards in food production and processing. Strengthen links between stakeholders. Organize forums connecting farmers, businesses and distributors to share information and experiences. The government needs to introduce financial support policies for farmers and businesses to invest in safe and sustainable production models. Provide low-interest loans or direct support for projects to develop safe agricultural product consumption chains..." - Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh said.
The competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products is being improved.
Dr. Vo Tri Thanh - Director of the Institute for Brand Strategy and Competitiveness Research said that with advantages in agriculture and natural conditions, Vietnamese agricultural products have certain strengths to compete in the world market and successfully participate in the global value chain.
“The fact that three more agricultural products are allowed to be officially exported to the Chinese market demonstrates the efforts of State agencies in negotiating, clearing and dialogue to open the Chinese market to more agricultural products. Currently, the number of agricultural products officially exported to this market has increased to 17 items. The Chinese market was previously considered “easy-going”, but has now become more demanding, with high demands on product quality, safety and origin. This requires Vietnamese enterprises to constantly strive to meet the requirements,” Dr. Vo Tri Thanh affirmed.
