According to a survey by Dan Tri reporters, on the evening of October 18 and the morning of October 19 at Ho Thi Ky flower street (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City), the shopping atmosphere near Vietnamese Women's Day October 20 was quite bustling, the number of buyers began to increase significantly since the beginning of the week.
Traders at the flower market said that this year, purchasing power increased by about 20% compared to last year, and the price of domestic fresh flowers is currently 20-30% higher than at the beginning of the month. Since a week ago, many shops have been rushing to place orders, with a large number of customers.

Many popular flower bouquets and baskets are sold for only 150,000-500,000 VND/bouquet. Some imported and large bouquets can cost more than 1-2 million VND.
Surveying popular flowers in many stores, roses cost from 10,000 VND to 30,000 VND/flower, hydrangeas cost 25,000-30,000 VND/flower, sunflowers cost about 25,000-30,000 VND/flower, gerberas cost about 10,000-12,000 VND/flower, lilies cost about 25,000-50,000 VND depending on the branch...
Besides traditional flowers, imported flowers are still popular thanks to their diversity, uniqueness and longer freshness time than domestic flowers, so the price of imported flowers is often higher.
Some imported flowers such as Dutch tulips cost about 100,000-170,000 VND/flower, imported baby flowers cost from 600,000 VND to 1 million VND/kg depending on the type, Ecuadorian roses with a length of 1-1.5m cost about 120,000-150,000 VND/flower are also very popular, traders at the flower market shared.

At the flower market, many shops also offer cash bouquets, which is popular with many customers. Accordingly, the cash is prepared by the shop itself, and customers will pay by bank transfer, depositing 3-5 million VND in advance.
This merchant said that many customers have ordered bouquets worth tens to hundreds of millions of VND each. The cost of each unique bouquet includes the amount of real money the customer wants to make the flowers, the wrapping paper as requested, and labor. In addition, if combined with fresh flowers or imported flowers, the price will be higher, depending on the budget the customer desires.
Gia Huy (living in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City) said he is choosing fresh flowers as gifts for his wife. In addition to flowers, on holidays, he also buys gifts that his wife likes such as jewelry, clothes, cosmetics, etc.
"Among gifts, flowers are the easiest. If I don't know what to buy, I'll buy flowers. I usually choose roses, which cost 300,000-500,000 VND on normal occasions, but a little more expensive on holidays, around 600,000-700,000 VND. Because on holidays, the demand for flowers increases, so the price increase is understandable," Huy said.
A flower shop owner in Binh Thanh District shared that wholesale flower prices during holidays often double, triple, or even quadruple, which is normal for the flower market. This year's holiday season, prices increased earlier, from October 10th, flower prices doubled compared to normal days and increased rapidly every day.
"Because of the price increase, the flower prices at the shops have to increase according to the market and all the flower shops have increased their prices like that," she said. This year, the price of flowers for the holidays is expected to increase even more due to the impact of storms and pests leading to a shortage of flowers. In recent days, the shop has received dozens of orders every day and this morning alone she has paid for about 30 pre-ordered orders.
In addition to traditional flower products, the trend of giving flowers continues to have new changes to become more practical such as flowers with money, flowers with water, flowers with cakes... Or "edible flower" baskets made from chocolate bars, candies, fruits shaped like a real bouquet also attract many customers on holidays.
