* The live hog market in the North recorded an increase of 1,000 VND/kg in Thai Nguyen province, currently trading at the highest level in the region at 52,000 VND/kg.
The above price was also recorded in Hung Yen, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang. The remaining provinces and cities have a common price of live pigs at 51,000 VND/kg.
Today's live pig price in the North is around 51,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.
* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions remain stable.
In particular, the lowest transaction price in the region is 48,000 VND/kg, continuing to be present in Quang Tri, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Binh Thuan.
Except for Nghe An, which is anchored at 51,000 VND/kg, the remaining provinces maintain stable purchasing prices in the range of 49,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 48,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, the price of live pigs has no new changes compared to yesterday.
Specifically, traders in Long An, Vinh Long and Ca Mau are buying live pigs at the highest price of 51,000 VND/kg.
Live pigs in the remaining provinces are traded at 49,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 49,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.
* According to the Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in 2023, the growth value of the livestock industry is estimated to reach 5.72%. In particular, pig farming is still the key sector, accounting for over 62% of the total output of live weight meat of domestically produced livestock.
In 2023, pig farming will develop stably in the context of household farming shifting strongly to semi-industrial, linking with enterprises; farm farming in chains, bio-security, disease safety and application of advanced technology will increase. Therefore, by the end of 2023, the total number of pigs is estimated at 26.342 million (not including about more than 4 million piglets with their mothers), an increase of 4.2% over the same period in 2022.
2023 is the year with the highest number of pigs in the past 5 years. The growth rate of pork output for the period 2019 - 2023 is on average 6.94%/year.
It is estimated that in 2023, the total output of live pigs for slaughter will reach 4.866 million tons, an increase of 7.2% over the same period in 2022. The growth rate of live pig output for slaughter in the period 2019 - 2023 will average 4.3%/year.
Currently, the price of live pigs in Vietnam is equivalent to the price of live pigs in Thailand, about 1,000 VND/kg higher than in China and about 5,000 - 8,000 VND/kg higher than in Cambodia.
In particular, the price of live pigs for slaughter in some countries that mainly export pork to the Vietnamese market is higher (the average price in the US is 33 - 34,000 VND/kg; in Russia 36,000 VND/kg, in Brazil 34 - 35,000 VND/kg... at the time of week 3 of December).
