With the same increase, the provinces of Bac Giang, Yen Bai, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh and Ha Nam also adjusted the transaction price to 58,000 VND/kg.

This is also the price of live pigs recorded in Lao Cai province after increasing by 2,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 57,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased by 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg last week.

Of which, the price of live pigs in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Lam Dong and Dak Lak is in the range of 54,000 - 56,000 VND/kg.

After increasing by 3,000 VND/kg, live pigs in Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan are being purchased at 54,000 - 55,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 54,000 - 56,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, the price of live pigs increased by the highest 4,000 VND/kg compared to last weekend.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 52,000 - 56,000 VND/kg.

* The leader of Dong Nai Livestock Association said that because the cost of raising pigs in Cambodia is lower than in Vietnam, smuggling may occur.

The price of Vietnamese live pigs is currently at 55,000 - 56,000 VND/kg, while the price of Cambodian live pigs sold to smugglers into our country is only 42,000 - 45,000 VND/kg.

“The cost of raising pigs is currently too high. The price of meat powder, the main ingredient in animal feed in Vietnam, is up to 6,000 VND/kg, while the price of this type of meat powder in Cambodia is only about 3,000 VND/kg, half the price.

In addition, the supply of pork from Cambodia has increased sharply in recent years while demand is not high, so they are looking for ways to sell to Vietnam for consumption," said Mr. Nguyen Tri Cong, Chairman of Dong Nai Livestock Association.

This situation increases the risk of infection and spread of dangerous diseases such as African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, avian influenza... as well as the risk of animals being fed banned substances to stimulate growth, seriously affecting the livestock industry and people's health.
