* Only a few months left until Tet, this is the time when many households are restocking their pigs to anticipate the Tet market. Currently, people are actively preparing for tasks such as selecting breeding pigs, cleaning barns and preventing diseases, getting ready to start restocking, so the price of piglets tends to increase.

However, due to the African swine fever spreading across the provinces, farmers have not increased their herd size significantly. In addition, the recent drop in pig prices has also made people hesitant to disperse their herds due to concerns about low profits.

However, farmers are less worried now that Vietnam has a vaccine for African swine fever.

According to information from the Department of Animal Health, from May 2022 to July 2023, in Vietnam, there are two types of ASF vaccines: NAVET-ASFVAC vaccine (Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company) and AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine (AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company) that have been registered and granted a Certificate of Circulation.

As of July, more than 650,000 doses of ASF vaccine have been 100% quality controlled and safely used according to the manufacturer's instructions in more than 40 provinces and cities nationwide. The rate of vaccinated pigs with an immune response producing antibodies averaged over 95%.

In addition, Dabaco Group Joint Stock Company has completed the final testing phase, in which all vaccinated pigs showed antibody responses. Dabaco's ASF vaccine manufacturing plant will be ready for mass production by the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 and aims to export the vaccine to major pig-raising countries.
