* The price of live pigs in the Northern region has stabilized, with no changes recorded compared to yesterday (June 22).
Specifically, localities including Nam Dinh, Ha Nam and Ninh Binh are purchasing live pigs at 60,000 VND/kg - the lowest in the region.
61,000-62,000 VND/kg is the price range recorded in the remaining localities.
Today's live pig price in the North is around 60,000-63,000 VND/kg.
* Live pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg.
In particular, after increasing one price, live pigs in the two provinces of Quang Binh and Ninh Thuan were both traded at 59,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, 58,000 VND/kg is the purchase price recorded in localities including Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak.
60,000-62,000 VND/kg is the price range recorded in the remaining localities.
Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 58,000-62,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, the market did not record any new fluctuations.
Accordingly, localities including Dong Thap, Can Tho, Tien Giang and Bac Lieu together purchased live pigs at 58,000 VND/kg.
59,000-60,000 VND/kg is the price range recorded in the remaining provinces and cities.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today is around 58,000-60,000 VND/kg.
* VNDirect Securities Joint Stock Company forecasts that the price of live pigs in the second quarter of 2023 will increase by 10% compared to the first quarter and continue to improve significantly in the third and fourth quarters of 2023, to 62,000-65,000 VND/kg thanks to recovering consumption demand and limited supply from small-scale farmers.
The securities company also expects global agricultural prices to fall by 7-10% in 2023, cooling animal feed prices by about 5%.
Currently, raw material costs (corn, soybeans and wheat) account for 80-85% of animal feed costs. Meanwhile, animal feed costs currently account for 50% of production costs in livestock farming.
In the context of a sharp decrease in the herd due to ASF and small-scale farmers abandoning their farms due to losses, Mr. Nguyen Nhu So, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dabaco Group Joint Stock Company, commented that the price of live pigs could return to its peak in 2020, reaching a record of 100,000 VND/kg.
