Pig price today 12/27

* The pig market in the North has not recorded any new changes in price.

Currently, traders in Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang are purchasing live pigs at the highest price in the region of 52,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, the lowest price of live pigs continues to be in Ninh Binh province at 50,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions remained stable across a wide area.

Of which, live pigs in Quang Tri, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak are being traded at the lowest price of 48,000 VND/kg.

Lam Dong province currently has the highest pork price in the region at 50,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, pig prices also remained stable following the general trend.

Specifically, the two provinces of Kien Giang and Ca Mau are trading live pigs at prices of VND 51,000/kg and VND 52,000/kg, respectively.

The remaining provinces and cities maintain stable purchasing prices in the range of 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 48,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

* Some experts say that this year, pig farming is even more difficult than the 2017 surplus crisis. At that time, despite calls for "pig rescue", purchasing power was good and pig farming was not affected by disease. But now, the cost of raising pigs has increased sharply due to the cost of breeding, feed and especially the risk of disease.

Besides, although the price of live pigs in Vietnam is below the cost price, it is still high compared to neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia, and China. Therefore, Vietnamese pigs have no chance to be exported. Especially, the source of goods from Cambodia, the current price of live pigs is only 36,000 VND/kg, so traders find ways to smuggle.

Mr. Nguyen Tri Cong, Chairman of Dong Nai Livestock Association, said that there is reason to say that this year's livestock farming is more difficult than the period when calling for "rescue" in previous years.

He emphasized: "Although the price of live pigs has increased, at a price of 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg, only a few businesses break even, the majority are still losing money. Throughout the past year, livestock farms have had to endure and hope to survive when prices increase in the future."
