* The live pig market in the North recorded an increase of 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg last week.
Accordingly, live pigs in Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam and Ninh Binh are being purchased at 52,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg.
The remaining provinces and cities in the region have live pig prices at VND53,000/kg, an increase of VND1,000 - 3,000/kg - depending on the region.
Today's live pig price in the North is around 51,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.
* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg last week.
In particular, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces are purchasing live pigs at prices ranging from 49,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.
Similarly, after increasing by VND2,000/kg, traders in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Binh Thuan are trading live pigs at VND50,000 - 51,000/kg, depending on the region.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 49,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, pig prices increased sporadically in a few places.
Specifically, the price of live pigs in Soc Trang province is 50,000 VND/kg, a slight increase of 1,000 VND/kg.
Live pigs in Long An and Vinh Long provinces are being purchased at a common price of VND51,000/kg, up VND1,000/kg and VND2,000/kg respectively.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 49,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.
* After a long period of decline, the price of live pigs has increased again in recent days. The average price of live pigs nationwide is currently around 51,500 VND/kg, about 2,500 VND/kg higher than the Chinese market.
In the North, the ceiling price of 53,000 VND/kg has reappeared after more than 2 months. Currently, the price of live pigs in the Northern provinces remains the highest in the country.
According to market sources, the live hog market in the South has not fluctuated much but there are signs of more "flowing goods", showing that supply pressure has eased.
Notably, CP Vietnam Company, the leading livestock producer in Vietnam, has adjusted the price of live pigs in this region up by VND1,000 to VND52,000/kg. The market currently expects that the price of live pigs in the South will catch up with the increase in the Northern provinces in the next few days.
Many farmers expect that the upward trend will continue and bring the price of live pigs above the cost of raising pigs. Currently, the market is in the peak consumption season at the end of the year, so consumption has improved significantly.
