* According to Mr. Tong Xuan Chinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the livestock market is currently quite gloomy because after Covid-19, people have had to reduce their jobs and become unemployed, causing their income to decrease and they have to tighten spending.
Besides, many collective kitchens restructured their production scale, reducing the need for imported food.
In addition, with a border length of more than 3,000 km, smuggled pigs into the domestic market have affected prices, along with risks related to food safety, disease safety and the environment.
Commenting on the pork market in the coming time, Mr. Tong Xuan Chinh said that with the current situation, economic growth is not the driving force, only hoping that consumption demand and purchasing power will improve during the Lunar New Year period.
In the long term, it is expected that many businesses will be qualified to export livestock products, attracting foreign currency to the industry.
CP Vietnam is currently promoting biosafety farming to target exports. The livestock industry also hopes that other large enterprises such as Masan, Hoa Phat, Xuan Thien... will do the same in the future.
